Social Media and Me

I want to be better about social media. I do like posting stuff just so I have a record of what's going on in my life and I have a blog where I record everything. Such as the Facebook timeline where it tells you what you did on that day in previous years. My blog is the same way only it has everything from journal entries (3 different) to social media posts to blog posts. Even list everywhere I've been that day so I like the concept of social media as a timeline, I don't really care about the social part of it.

My last Facebook post

My problem is, I don't take the time to post on social media when something happens. My instinct isn't, grab my phone and tell the world what's going on so by the time I think about it, it's usually, I should have posted about that. Therefore, I suck at social media.

I have all the social media on my phone but I rarely use it. I send out a snap a day to the couple of people I have streaks with and that's about it. I don't get on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter on my phone, not just to read. The only social media I do on my phone would be Tik Tok (watching) and I only do that when I'm alone at home, which usually means in the bathroom.

My last Instagram post

I just don't use if much for the intended use. I do get on each of those listed above but after I get home and settled in the recliner and I use my laptop. I go through Facebook but I have a favorites list with about 30 people on it and then I have a few pages bookmarked that I check daily and that's it. I have 263 friends, I would say half of that is family if not more, the rest are people I went to school with or work with but the majority of them I don't really follow. I added them way back in the day and I don't really unfriend anyone unless there is a reason so they just sit there.

My last tweet

Twitter is the same way, I made a couple of lists and only follow those people, not the 1000's of followers I accumulated back when I made an effort to gain followers. Instagram as well, for the most part I watch the stories and move on. As much as I love being connected to everything, I also don't really care. It's kind of like carrying my phone. I can't imagine not having it with me, I have to have it, but I rarely use it. It's more because if I need something, it's there. I just don't really need it for anything. Although that's not entirely true as I listen to Spotify on it all the time but other than that, it's just there. I used to text a lot but not so much anymore. I get more spam calls than anything, I use it for work phone calls but even those are occasional. I rarely use it for personal phone calls. My peeps prefer texting.

I have noticed that I tend to use it more when I don't work. During the month off of Covid, I used Twitter more, same with this past week that I've had off. I always say that I'm going to start doing better, but I know I won't.

I guess it just isn't for me.

Facebook

I'm about done with Facebook. I always hated how they pick and choose what and who you see so I had a customized list which they used to let you do. I put all the people and pages that I wanted to see on it and then click on the list and it would order it by most recent. I would scroll down until I got to the spot where I left off last time. I got to see everything that I wanted to see. If someone posted a bunch of the same stuff every day, I just removed them from the list, I didn't have to unfriend them, just made it so I didn't see them anymore.

The last couple of weeks, Facebook has changed the list and it now does the same crap as their newsfeed. Only shows me what they want me to see. I see the same posts for a couple of days. I don't want to see what I've already seen. I don't want to have to scroll through all that just to see what I haven't seen. So like I said, I'm about done with it all.

Let's take a look at all my social media and how I view it.

  • Facebook - look at my list and my memories for that day. For now.
  • Instagram - only view the stories, will occasionally scroll through the feed when I'm bored, but not very often.
  • Pinterest - only post my cards from my blog. Don't view anything at all.
  • Snapchat - I send my streaks out daily and view streaks sent back to me. I'll go through the feed once a day but I only have a couple of people who posts regularly.
  • Tik Tok - I only check it when I'm pooping at home (I hate when people watch videos in the bathroom in public places.)
  • Twitter (personal) - I have a list of people of who I actually follow. I check it daily but doesn't take more than a few minutes to get through it.
  • Twitter (sports) - Same as above. This list has card blogs and other sports figures but again, doesn't take more than a few minutes to get through it.

With all of those above, I rarely post anything to any of them. My twitter accounts I post links to blog posts but as far as anything personal, extremely rare.

So when someone asks me if I could live without Social Media, yeah, I really could live without it. It's not a huge deal in my life. Do I enjoy it? Sure. Do I have to have it? Nope.

I don't understand the obsession with Facebook to begin with. I see people in their cars while driving to work at 4 am in the morning scrolling through it. Is it really that important that you can't drive without looking at it? I see people at work constantly pulling their phones out and checking it. I just don't understand it at all.

For the record, I rarely, and I mean rarely ever use social media on my phone, other than Snapchat and TikTok because that's kind of their thing but as stated above, I don't use them often. When do I look at social media? Usually sitting in my recliner on my laptop in my living room. Not in the car, not at work, not while hanging out with my friends (if I had any).

When I get bored, I will admit I get on Reddit on my phone but it's not that often. Usually if I'm sitting there with some time to kill for something.

I just truly don't get the obsession.

Slow day

As per my usual, the night after a weekend, I couldn't sleep. It takes me forever to fall asleep and when I do fall asleep, I don't generally sleep well. First of all, I stayed up to late.

That's when I went to bed, It was probably closer to 1:30-1:45 before I fell asleep. I woke up again when my wife came to bed which I normally don't do. Usually I'm out like a light. I got up at 4:45 for work like usual. I got dressed and went out to start the car, then came in to get my lunch together which is unusual. I rarely start the car before I'm ready to leave but being that it was negative 23 degrees, I figured it would be good to do that.

I took my normal route, which I debated on because I was afraid the temps would turn the roads to ice but if I go the main roads, it tacks on quite a big more mileage and I'd rather just drive slow then take the long way.

I get to work and find out that the boiler went down sometime over the long weekend so it was going to take a few hours to get the tanks heated up. A few hours later, we realized they still weren't heating up so maintenance had to fix it. It still wasn't fixed when we left, or I should say I left because they gave the option to leave early but I stayed my 8 hours.

I could see how my day was going to be within the first hour.

This is off a guy at works Snapchat. You can see me in my lab coat back behind him. I bent down thinking I needed to to get into the photo, now I wish I wouldn't have, I look really huge slouched over like that.

I came home to my son eating lunch at 2:40 in the afternoon because he tends to sleep in until after 11. Must be nice to have all those days off.

I haven't done much since. Showered and been chilling in the recliner watching TV and doing my internet thing. I fought sleep for awhile but I didn't really sleep so I should be good to go tonight.

Cheri made taco's for supper which I always love for 2 reasons. 1. They're really good. 2. Tomorrow I will have a salad in a bowl with the lettuce, tomato and cheese left over and I will nuke some taco meat and put it on top for a taco salad lunch at work.

The photos above are all from my Snapchat. I really love that app but the problem I have is nobody really does it. There's a few people at work who do because they are in their 20's and I have some nieces and daughters, other than that, hardly anybody. So, now that Instagram and Facebook both have stories, every thing I post on Snapchat, I post on those 2 forums as well. Apparently I'm posting it here as well. One thing I did notice, it's a lot easier to post about my day with visual reminders.

I'm not sure when I get my stats post up, probably not until this weekend but we'll see.

Walking and 7-Eleven suck

Just to let you know how hard this challenge (yesterdays post) is going to be for me, I was going to go walking today after work, you know, kind of a warm up before the challenge starts tomorrow. About 2 o'clock, at work, I got stuck outside in the pouring rain as a sudden storm hit and I was on my forklift trying to get some things inside. I was drenched. I wasn't all that concerned with being wet since I was getting off in half an hour anyways but when I got home, I helped the wife put the ice maker back together (she was trying to figure out why it stopped working) and I still planned on going but do you know what ultimately prevented me from going? My socks were wet. Yup, there you have it.

My thought process was at first, I'll just go for a walk in my work boots (they look like tennis shoes/sneakers) so I don't have to change my socks. Then my though process was, it probably won't be good to walk in wet socks, I'll probably end up with blisters or something. Then I was thinking, but I don't want to change socks just to go walking and then take them off to shower. So I just didn't go.

Do you see how easy it is to talk myself out of going? Do you see how hard it is going to be to do this challenge?

I'm going to give it a go though, we'll see how well I do.

If you follow me on Twitter, or should I say, if you actually read what I tweet because I'm sure the majority, if not all, of my followers don't even know I exist, then you saw this tweet earlier, and I shall explain here.

On my way home, I took an alternate route than I normally take. Because we got blasted with rain, the road I work on floods and I mean floods. I have seen cars get stalled trying to drive though it. So I took the back route out to avoid that and I needed gas, so I hit the 7-Eleven that I pass by. Normally I hit, what we call, the Smith's Food Mart which is on my usual route. It's been there for years and I tend to me loyal to places that never give me any problems. Plus they have greasy gas station food that I love (Pizza Puffs). Yummy! I'm hungry now.

Anyways, I went to 7-Eleven and inserted my card, put in my pin number and it said cancelled by cashier. In other words, they run a certain amount on my card at the start to make sure you can afford gas and I didn't have enough in it. Now, I was only going to put $10 in, for one, I get paid Friday. Two, $10 will last me a week because for the most part, I drive back and forth to work and that's pretty much it. I only work 4 miles from work, 8 miles round trip so I don't use much gas. Since mid-February, I have only gone 2625.7 miles.

I absolutely hate the fact that these places do this. I understand they are protecting themselves from thieves but you know what, don't punish me for the criminals out there. I understand, but it doesn't make me happy. So I got in my car and drove off. I do pay at the pump because I don't want to go inside and pay. I don't want to roll my windows up, take the keys out and lock the car when I should be able to scan my card and never leave the area around my car. Not to mention, people suck so if I can avoid a few, I'm out. I drove off and went to Smith's, which is a Phillips 66 station. Put my card in, put $10 in and left.

For the record, do you know how much I had in my account when 7-11 denied my card? $65 was my balance. My car won't even hold $65 of gas at the current cost. They must be running it for $100 to see if you deem worthy for their gas.

I will be avoiding 7-Elevens from now on.

New Years–2014 Review, part 2

Check out my last post if you haven’t already to see the first part of my 2014 review. Todays part is all be about my blogs and my social media/internet habits.

The other stat I kept last year, and continued this year was how many words written on this blog, let’s take a look as compared to previous years.

000_thumb[1]

004_thumb

As you can see to the left, I posted 35 less posts this year. I was probably on pace to get 200 or so again but the last 3 months only had 3 posts each. I just haven’t been in the blogging mood. The only reason I got as many posts as I did was because for a couple of months, I was blogging a journal entry every day.  I did reach 300,000 words on my 594th post in August of this year and up until this post, I’m showing 634 posts with a total of 321,709 words. I’m not really sure what will become of this blog since I rarely use it anymore. I would like to use it more but I just don’t really have much to say. I seem to be using my tumblr blogs more often, because I don’t really have to say anything. I just repost or post pictures that I enjoy.

We’ll start off with my blogger blogs. Yes, I have more than 1.

zzz-blogbanner04

  • 137 posts in 2014
  • 8 additional followers in 2014
  • 46655 pageviews in 2014

This blog is sports card related. Mainly baseball cards (yes, I collect them).

zzz-blogbanner12

  • 1192 posts in 2014
  • 0 additional followers in 2014
  • 2957 pageviews in 2014

This is essentially an index of all sports related pictures that I’ve posted to all of My Sports Obsession related blogs and sports related Pinterest boards. I haven’t advertised yet until I get caught up with all my previous posts so that’s why the stats aren’t really anything.

zzz-blogbanner06

  • 164 posts in 2014
  • 5 additional followers in 2014
  • 28709 pageviews in 2014

I’m hoping I don’t need to explain this blog, since you’re on it now.

zzz-blogbanner08

  • 26 posts in 2014
  • 693 pageviews in 2014

This isn’t actually my blog, but I guest post on it. I post anytime I get any University of Michigan related sports cards. I don’t keep track of followers since it isn’t my blog and the stats I have above are related to my posts only.

My next set of blogs are all tumblr blogs. I’m more seen on these because I can queue them up on the weekends to run all week. Plus I don’t have to type anything out, just post or repost pictures.

zzz-blogbanner

  • 345 posts in 2014
  • 1 additional follower in 2014
  • 4 likes or reblogs in 2014

I post a lot of different stuff but it’s mainly TV and movie posts. I also post my Last Song of the Day on most days there as well.

zzz-blogbanner11

  • 436 posts in 2014
  • 40 additional followers in 2014
  • 1133 likes or reblogs in 2014

On this blog, I post, obviously, cats. Every 5th post is a picture of my kitty. Lots of funny cat gifs.

zzz-blogbanner03

  • 589 posts in 2014
  • 30 additional followers in 2014
  • 91 likes or reblogs in 2014

On this blog, it’s sports, all the time. Lots of White Sox and Colts but also a lot of other stuff. Including vintage sports photographs. NBA, NFL, NCAA and MLB.

zzz-blogbanner09

  • 518 posts in 2014
  • 58 additional followers in 2014
  • 292 likes or reblogs in 2014

This blog is all Michigan Wolverines. A lot of sports but non-sports also, anything related to the University of Michigan.

Now on to my Twitter stats, and again, yes, I have more than 1. Twitter is annoying in the fact that I have to have a different email address for each account. Unlike blogger and tumblr, where you can just log on once and click which blog you want.

twitter-jccsst1022

  • 4835 new followers in 2014
  • 587 tweets in 2014
  • 131 retweets or favorites in 2014

This is my main and personal account. I tweet out links to my blog posts from this blog and my A Day in the Life of a Nobody blog as well as personal tweets. My Instagram usually posts here as well.

twitter-kitty20101

  • 4441 new followers in 2014
  • 626 tweets in 2014
  • 212 retweets or favorites in 2014

The only thing that gets tweeted out here are blog posts from the Cats Are Cuter blog up above and once in awhile, I’ll retweet Instagram pics of my kitty.

twitter-sportobsession6

  • 4320 new followers in 2014
  • 959 tweets in 2014
  • 117 retweets or favorites in 2014

This blog goes along with the 2 My Sports Obsession blogs listed above as well as I tweet out any sports related tweets that I may have, such as games I’m watching and such.

twitter-msowolverines

  • 4199 new followers in 2014
  • 426 tweets in 2014
  • 60 retweets or favorites in 2014

This blog goes along with the Michigan related blogs above. I also tweet out personal stuff that’s related to the school such as when I’m watching their sports or any other related tweets I may have.

Since we’re already on social media, we’ll continue with that.

pinterest

  • 2603 things pinned (17 different boards).facebook
  • 56 status’ posted in 2014
  • 88 other things posted in 2014
  • 50 personal photos posted in 2014

These stats are from my personal facebook page. As you can see I don’t really post a whole lot compared to a lot of other people.

instagram

  • 50 posts to Instagram

  • AOL – 2422 read emails
  • Gmail – 5187 read emails
  • GMX – 660 read emails
  • Hotmail – 1370 read emails
  • Yahoo – 3259 read emails

Yes, I have 5 email accounts. That’s because of stupid Twitter who you have to have a different email address for each account. The Gmail is the one I use for personal stuff which is why it has more and the yahoo one is the one I use to sign up on websites and newsletters and such.

I guess I should have put this on part 1 since it isn’t really internet related. Oh well.

  • 610 incoming minutes used
  • 766 outgoing minutes used

I have no idea how those are so high because I rarely talk on the phone. I round up so if it was a 10 second phone call, it gets counted as a minute so that’s part of the reason.

  • 2903 texts that were alerts of some kind.
  • 11992 incoming and outgoing texts that were to people I know personally.

I get alerts from my bank, the local sherriff’s department and Google calendar alerts. As well as some others but those are the only ones I can think of at the moment.

The majority of the personal texts are to Cheri, my mom, my brother and Samantha.

So there you go, those are my stats for 2014. Why were you a slacker and not keep stats?

What I’ve been up to in social media

I know, I know, it’s been almost a month since I’ve posted. I’m a slacker.  I have been posting to my Tumblr accounts but I queue those up to run a week at a time so I don’t have to mess with them but even with that I’ve gone 5 to 7 days without posting before getting some more in the queue.  If it makes you feel better, I’m 11,477 behind in my feedly too.  I haven’t been spending much time there either, which is where most of the content for the Tumblrs come from to so there’s that reason as well.

What have I been doing?

I updated all my Twitter accounts (cover photos and some profile pics changed) as well as I have been trying to tweet on them more.  I’ve been trying to tweet some personal stuff on my actual account (@jccsst1022) instead of only having my tumblr posts posted for me.  Such as this.

2014-12-02-01

Yeah, some of them are bitching, but I’ve found when I make a complaint about companies on Twitter, a lot of the times, you’ll get a response. I didn’t from UPS, but I have from Verizon, AT&T, Comcast and a couple of others so I tend to take to Twitter pretty quickly when I have a complaint.

2014-12-03-02

I’ve been trying to keep up with my book updates as well, although, now that I see this, I realized I forgot to put any hashtags on it.  A rookie mistake, I told you I was a slacker.

I haven’t been tweeting everything I do or anything, but a couple of tweets a day.  I also post Last Song of the Day posts there as well.

I also have been posting to my sports related account (@sportobsession6).  Such as this.

2014-11-30-04

I’ve been tweeting out when I’m watching games, usually a tweet or 2 a game, not a play by play or anything. I do less bitching on this one, but if I have a sports related one, I’ll let it go.

2014-11-30-05

Yeah, I’m on Snapchat as well. I’m not on it very often and rarely ever send snaps but I do play around some, like on Thanksgiving when I made this.

Snapchat-4984701806702664240-1

I don’t ever send them, I just create them and send them to my phone and send them out via text message.  For one, there isn’t very many people on snapchat, at least that I know of.  I was just goofing out for that one, I sent it to Samantha and Cheri.

Back to twitter, I’ve also been using my Michigan Wolverine twitter account (@MSOWolverines) as well, usually when I’m watching a game.  Such as this.

2014-12-06-02

Sometimes, I’ll just retweet other information that is related to the school.  Such as this.

2014-12-03-03

I know none of that really explains what I’ve been doing all this time but what I have been doing the most is working on My Life blog (which is private) and also my My Sports Obsession – Index, which takes quite a bit of time.

My Life is where I’m taking all my social media and putting it into one blog. Sort of a journal for my kids when I’m gone. I know, it’s morbid, but I lost my father at 8 years old so I’m well aware that my time can come at any time. You go to the day in question on the blog and it will show what I posted on each of my accounts.  Even before social media, you can click on a year and it will show all my photos that I have scanned for that year.  If you want to see all the stuff I’ve posted about a certain family member, search or click on their name and bam, there it is.  Want to see just the photographs I’ve posted, click on the word photographs and each post that has one on it will come up.  As you can tell, it takes some work.  I’m starting with the oldest first so right now I’m only having to deal with Facebook, the 1 Twitter account and YouTube. The closer I get to catching up then I have to deal with a lot more. such as this blog and a couple others, 4 different tumblrs, pinterest and more.  Right now I’m getting ready to start on October of 2010, so as you can see, I still have a ways to go.  A lot of the hard work is done, I’ve screen capped every tweet and facebook post (did that today), now it’s just getting them all together.

My Sports Obsession – Index is just that, an index. I’m using that blog to index all of the sports pictures that I’ve posted on all of my sports related accounts.  Between My Sports Obsession, the 2 sports tumblr accounts, and a few different boards on pinterest.  You’ll be able to search by team or player, college and pro, multitude of sports.  On that blog, I’m up to October 3rd, 2012, but I’m also redoing the ones that I have finished so technically, I’m not that far yet.

So as you can tell, I’ve still been busy, just not on this blog.  Sorry.  I’d tell you that I was going to do better, but let’s face it, I don’t know that I will.

My new project

There hasn’t been anything really going on and I haven’t felt much like blogging so I haven’t.  I’ll try to be better.  It will go with my latest “online” project anyways.

This will sound stupid to a lot of you, if not all, but it’s what I do.  I started a new blog, don’t get excited, only members can view it and I will be very selective as it is all about my family and life.  So if you’re a family member or close friend, ask me and I’ll send you an invite (I’m not expecting anyone to ask, maybe my mom, that would be all that reads this.)  Basically, I’m combining all my social media into one blog.  Here’s the info at the top of the blog.

In a world of everything being online, I'm going to try to compile the life and times of myself from all my social media accounts into 1 place. It's definitely a long term goal and I would like to eventually be caught up to just add daily, but until then, there'll be multiple posts a day. You can check out the labels at the bottom of the page.

First I went to Shutterfly and transferred all my older photos to the new blog.  I tagged them all with the year they were taken and tagged everybody in them.  So I can go to the blog and click on my mom’s name, or grandmothers, and see every photo with them in it.  Or I can click the year and see everything for that year, or just click the photograph label and view only pictures.  I was born in 1973 but my photos start in 1978 and so far, I’m up to 2009.  I also tagged them all with Shutterfly so I know where they are online.  Once I got to 2008, May 22nd, 2008 to be exact (the day I signed up with Facebook), I started to add anything I’ve posted on Facebook.  If it’s a photo I copy it over, if it’s a status, I screen cap it and post it as well.  On March 31st of 2009 (the day I signed up with Twitter), I started adding any tweets from Twitter that I posted.  As I get later in those years, I’ll add other stuff.  Here’s my start dates for all my social media that I may be adding.

socialmedia

I haven’t decided what all I’m going to be adding, I will probably do everything up there but I think for the blogs, I’ll just provide a link rather than the whole content, other than personal photos, we’ll see.  I’m playing it by ear and hoping I have it figured out by the time I start hitting the blogs.

Why am I doing this?  Well for one, it would be nice if it was all centrally located into one spot.  What I’m hoping is when I’m gone (dead) that my kids or family can have a place to come and learn about me.  I realize that this will probably never be an issue but I think because my father died when I was only 8, I only have a few memories and whatever stories I’ve heard about him growing up, I feel like I don’t really know him much.  I guess this is my way of leaving some kind of legacy.  With all the online content that’s being put out there, why not keep all of mine in one spot.

Daily’s and Feedly

In my last post, I referenced my Feedly as well as what I called, my daily’s.  When I get online, my browser opens up on a friends daughters MySpace page.  That would be the first “daily”.  His daughter died at 18 and MySpace wouldn’t give him control of the account but they said as long as it was still getting pageviews, it wouldn’t be deleted.  So I hit it at least once a day.

Here’s a screencap of my daily’s bookmarks

dailys

  1. MySpace - I already told you about the MySpace account.
  2. Breast Cancer Site – I click on the Breast Cancer link every day, along with the Veterans, Autism, Alzheimers and Diabetes.  Breast Cancer because I’ve known a few people who have fought it.  Veterans because I strongly respect what they’ve done.  Autism because I can’t imagine raising an autistic child, especially the ones that don’t like contact, I can’t imagine never being able to hold my child.  Alzheimers because it runs in my family and I may very well end up with it.  Diabetes because a number of family members have this, including Cheri.
  3. Blogger – I used to check my stats and stuff but now I pretty much breeze past it.
  4. Yahoo Mail – Obviously, I check my mail.  My yahoo is the account I sign up for sites with because it seems to have a pretty good spam filter.
  5. Gmail – I use this email more as my personal email anymore.
  6. AOL – I use this email for one of my Twitter accounts, I think the cat one.  I’ve actually had this account since the internet start getting popular.  My brother had AOL and let me set up an account on it.
  7. Hotmail – Because I needed another email account for my Michigan accounts.
  8. Facebook – I have 2 lists on FB that I check daily.  Family and Current Friends.
  9. Tweetdeck – I have all my Twitter accounts in one so I don’t have to check each one individually.
  10. Instagram – Check my Instagram, obviously
  11. Pinterest – Same as above, check it.
  12. Twitter – I don’t really use this one either because of the Tweetdeck.
  13. Unfollowers – This website keeps track of who follows and unfollows all my Twitter accounts, my Facebook and my Instagram.
  14. Ebay – The link goes to my saved searches, I go through each of those.  Then check the stuff I’m bidding on, then go to the purchase page to pay for whatever I haven’t paid for yet.
  15. FH – This is a tumblr account that he posts links on everyday.  Book/Link/Pictures/Person/ect of the Day.  The website and picture of the day I usually click every day.
  16. Feedly – I have my feedly divided up to folders.  A to Z, All-Stars, Cards, Celebs, Humor, Instagram, Pinterest and Tumblr.  I check the A to Z, All-Stars Instagram and Pinterest folders every day.  The others I check whenever I have time.  The A to Z are people that I followed during the A to Z Challenge.  I gradually move them to All-Stars or delete them depending if I still like what they are posting.  All-Stars are the posts that I want to keep up with Daily.  Cards are all the baseball card blogs I follow.  Celebs are all the sites that post Celeb pictures daily.  Humor is all the funny stuff I follow.  Instagram is all the Instagram accounts that I specifically follow.  I follow some people because they are friends but I don’t really care what they post so this is my way of weeding out who I follow and who I actually follow.  Pinterest is the same as the Instagram food.  Tumblr is all the Tumblr accounts that I might repost to one of my Tumblr accounts.

There you go, that’s my usual daily trip on the interwebs.  When I get done with all those, I usually blog or go through the rest of my Feedly stuff.

Plugging myself

I just wanted to update or plug all my online activities.  If you don’t care, feel free to ignore this post and wait for the next one.  I’m not going to use pictures and make it all pretty, this post is for informational purposes only.

Blogs (blogger)

  • Random Thoughts From A Random Guy – Pretty much my everything but sports blog.  Book related, movie related, music related, family related and some humor as well.  Last year I posted an average of 4 times a week.  Some weeks more than that, some weeks less.
  • My Sports Obsession – This is pretty much strictly sports cards related blog.  You can click the link to check out my collections.  This blog I posted an average of 4 times a week as well.

Blogs (tumblr)

  • A Day In The Life Of A Nobody – This is my personal entertainment blog.  It’s mainly TV and movie stuff.  My top tags are Star Trek, Star Wars, Supernatural, the Big Bang Theory and the Walking Dead if that helps you out any.  I only post a max of 3 times a day, sometimes less depending on how much I have in my queue.
  • Cats Are Cuter – This is an all cat related blog.  It has funny cat gifs and cute cat pictures as well as every 5th picture, is a picture of our Kitty.  I started this blog for my wife because she loves the cat stuff.  I only post a max of 3 times a day, sometimes less depending on how much I have in my queue.
  • My Sports Obsession – I started this blog because I love good sports photography.  I post all kinds of sports related pictures, vintage and current.  I mainly post baseball, basketball and football but if I see something I like, and it’s sports related, it’ll get posted.  I only post a max of 3 times a day, sometimes less depending on how much I have in my queue.
  • My Sports Obsession – Wolverines – When I started the above blog, I was posting a lot of Michigan Wolverines stuff so I decided it needed it’s own blog.  I post only Michigan stuff but from all sports.  I only post a max of 3 times a day, sometimes less depending on how much I have in my queue.

Twitter

  • @kitty20101 – This account just accompanies the above Cats Are Cuter blog.  When it gets posted there, it gets posted here.
  • @jccsst1022 – This is my personal account but I really don’t tweet much.  It’s mostly used to plug my Random Thoughts From A Random Guy blog as well as my A Day In The Life of A Nobody.  My Instagram also posts here but I don’t post to it much either.
  • @sportobsession6 – This account accompanies all my sports related blogs.  They all post here as well as some of my boards on pinterest that are sports related.  I tweet here occasionally as well if it’s sports related.  In other words, this account is sports related.

Facebook

  • I do have a personal account and I will approve friend request from my readers if I’ve had other interaction with you before.  I’m not just going to approve you because you say you read a blog of mine.  If you’ve paid enough attention, you know my name and know how to find me.
  • Cats Are Cuter – This page accompanies the blog of the same name.
  • My Sports Obsession – This page accompanies the sports blogs above.  All of my sports pictures get posted here from the tumblr and pinterest.
  • My Sports Obsession – Wolverines – This page accompanies the Michigan blog above.  This also gets pictures posted from my pinterest as well as all kinds of stuff shared from other Michigan facebook pages.  Once I get more likes (the page just started), I’m hoping to start interacting with other Michigan fans.
  • Random Thoughts From A Random Guy – This accompanies the blog from the same name but I also post humorous pictures from all over as well.

Pinterest – My boards are listed below in order by most pins, to least.

  • Female Celebrities – Pictures of female celebs that I like.
  • Vintage Sports – All kinds of sports pictures from any sport.
  • Michigan Wolverines – Anything University of Michigan related.
  • TV and Movies – I mainly post movie posters but also some TV related stuff.

  • Superheroes – Anything superhero related.  Superman, Batman, Marvel, ect.
  • Music – Anything music related but it’s mostly album covers.

Instagram – I post mainly personal stuff but I do throw other items in here.  I do not use my Instagram account to post humor stuff as in meme’s or cartoons.  But I do screen cap some album covers or weather related stuff as well.  Depends on my mood.

Goodreads – This is a book related social site.  Although I don’t really do anything socially but I do keep track of what books I’ve read or am reading.  I have interacted with some authors and even reviewed their books for them.

Google+ – The only thing I use this for is I post links to my 2 blogger blogs.  I’m not a big fan of Google+, the only reason I post to it is because it’s easy to do when I post on my blog.

YouTube – I do have a YouTube channel but for the most part, it’s my kids and stuff like that, nothing really special as far as a reader is concerned.  I did once vlog but I didn’t like how it turned out and haven’t done one since.

Yahoo Contributor – I have posted a few stories to yahoo.  This just takes you to my profile page where you can click on the articles.

I guess that’s about it, feel free to follow me in any of the previous mentioned forums.  I always love to interact with my readers.

Social Media Sunday

For awhile now, I’ve been taking some time on Sundays (usually, sometimes Monday) and tracking my social media accounts.  I don’t know why, I just do.  I don’t really do anything to go out of my way to gather more followers.  For a month, I did the A to Z Challenge on this blog and that was to gather some followers.  I also went through a time where I made an effort to get more Twitter followers for (@jccsst1022) and (@sportobsession6) but I don’t anymore.  I don’t even post much to my Vine or YouTube accounts, but I added them to the list anyways.  Let’s take a look at the graph.

A Day in the Life of...(1)

The left side of the red line is followers, the right side are content posted.  I didn’t post up to my usual standard this week.  I really haven’t been online as much as I usually am.  That is sometimes typical on the weeks I am scheduled for 5 12 hour days.  The chart shows my online presence at 2410 followers, technically up 5 followers but I lost 3 on my SportObsession6 Twitter account.  That’s a regularity on the 2 Twitter accounts with a bunch of followers.  I follow anyone who follows me so people will follow me just to get a follower and then unfollow me.  But I use a service that tells me who unfollows me and they will get unfollowed as well.

I realize none of you really care about any of this, but I’ve been struggling for content and like I said above, I’ve been doing this for awhile so why not blog about it.  We’ll see if I continue this every week.  I should have time for a Music Mondays post tomorrow.

Randomness bullet points

After averaging a post every other day in August, I hit a dry spell and haven’t posted in almost a week, not since the 28th of last month.  I’ve had stuff to blog about but nothing spectacular so if I don’t blog about it when it happens, I tend to forget about it.  It was my long week at work and it was hot as well so I’m usually fairly drained by the time I get home.  I’ll give you some bullet points on my week to make up for the lack of posts.  Because my 2 or 3 regular readers are dying to know, not really.

  • I had one day that I pissed off my foreman.  I’m on my feet, walking on a metal catwalk for 11 hours a day in 100°+ heat and he wants to complain when I take a minute to sit on a bucket in front of a fan.  He caught me, again, and bitched me out.  Then he started to complain about how stressed he was at all these other people.  So I told him “You should relieve some of that stress by sitting on a bucket.”  Apparently, he didn’t appreciate the humor.  I heard he was complaining about me the whole rest of the day.
  • I had one day where I was pissed at my oldest daughter, actually I was pissed for a couple of days and still get pissed when I think about it.  Probably because nobody really acknowledged what happened.
  • I had one day where I didn’t do any social media.  Not on purpose, I just don’t usually do it much if at all at work and then I crashed early to bed when I got home.
  • theEx picked up the kids on Friday and returned them that night.  Then took them again at noon on Saturday and returned Samantha that night because she had a girl scouts function on Sunday.  Then I got Trevor back on Sunday night.  So Cheri was busy most of the weekend just driving the kids around because we can’t trust theEx to make sure kids get to their functions.
  • I’ve started listening to my first podcast.  I spoke of it in my last post but I enjoy the banter between the 2.  I usually hand the remote to Cheri and tell her to watch one of her shows, pop in my headphones, and listen while I go through my feedly (which I am way behind again).  I’m thinking about searching out a few more to listen to.  They’d have to be comedy and be really funny, and most importantly, free.  In case you missed my buddy’s, it’s at twoboredvets.com.
  • I have to bite my tongue all the time on my personal Facebook page because I live about 10 miles from the Notre Dame campus so I have a lot of friends and family that are Notre Dame fans while I am a Michigan fan.  The big thing is last year, Notre Dame bowed out of the rivalry and kept a few easier schools on their schedule when this was a huge (football and money making wise) game.  Coach Kelly (ND) said this week that he didn’t think of the Michigan game as a rivalry.  Really?  Maybe you should see all the anti-Michigan posts on my feed.  That’s all year long, it’s just doubled this week with them playing this coming Saturday.  I don’t even hate the school, just a lot of the delusional fans.
  • The kids are still enjoying their new school.  Samantha is running in cross country, that’s pretty much the only sport there is at her grade level.  I haven’t received any complaints on either one and Trevor actually brought home a progress report with a really good remark from the teacher.  .@lovejlaws - So proud of Trevor -) #ProgressReport #JimtownIntermediate #School - Webstagram - the best Instagram viewer
  • The previous weekend when I didn’t work, Cheri and I had a “Breaking Bad” marathon.  We started Friday night Aquoteforgenerationstocome-36774and watched seasons 1 thru 5 (first 8 episodes) on Netflix thru Sunday.  Then watched episodes 9 and 10 on demand, then recorded episode 11 live on Sunday night and watched those 3 on Monday night so we got all the way caught up.  We love the show and I think pretty much everyone in this family that watches it, loves Jessi.  You’d have to watch the show to understand the picture to the left, yo.  I posted it on my wife’s facebook page but I made sure she was the only one who could see it because I don’t think anyone in my family watches the show and didn’t want them to think I was calling her a bitch.  I’m sure that wouldn’t go over too well with either her or my family.
  • I started a new tumblr blog.  Mainly for my wife because I’m constantly showing her cat pictures and gif’s so I decided to just throw them on a blog and she could see them there.  Every 5th picture is a picture of our kitty as well.  You can check it out here - http://catsarewaycuter.tumblr.com/ or following it’s accompanying twitter account – @kitty20101
  • Had a great Labor day yesterday.  Pretty much all we did the whole day was sit at my mom’s in a big circle outside, eating and talking.  A day chatting with the family is always a good day.  Plus the weather was pretty good and made it more enjoyable to be outside.

I think that’s about it, I told you stuff went on, I just couldn’t sit my ass down and put it down on the computer.
