Randomness

I haven't posted in a week, figured I'd throw something up here so we'll go with a randomness post.

I don't normally talk about work much but my role is getting expanded tomorrow. I'm ok with it, it'll be more work for me but I'm not afraid of that. The thing I fear is that I enjoy what I do now and I have a feeling that I'll start losing the duties of that job and I'm not going to like the newer aspects of the new job. I just hope it doesn't get to the point where I don't like my job. That's my fear, because I hate doing something I don't like to do. When you hate your job, it makes it a lot harder to go in.

I've been reading the Dresden Files by Jim Brewer. It's pretty good. It was recommended to me awhile back, maybe even 10 years ago and I read the first 2 but I started buying free books and stopped buying his so now I'm finishing it. I just finished book 7 and I believe there are 17 of them now so I have plenty of reading to do. It takes me awhile to get through a book because I only read on my breaks so 40 minutes on work days and that's it. There is also 1 season of a show called Dresden

If you've been around here before when I did the book stuff you'll know I'm a big fan of the Hollows series by Kim Harrison and I know she retired the series at one point but I guess is working on a new one so I'm sure I'll pick that one up when it comes out. There are a couple of recent Stephen King books that I need to grab as well but since I'm actually spending more on my books, I generally only buy one at a time.

Didn't do much this weekend, as we tend to do. Next weekend we have a birthday party to go to as well as something for Trevor's school about scholarship stuff and he seems to want to go to college so we'll be doing those on Saturday, plus the ND/Michigan game in the evening. I might even try to get out on Sunday to see Zombieland 2 with the kids.

Last.fm

For those of you that follow my Last Song of the Day or even want to follow along at what I listen to, check out my profile on Last.fm. I just joined up a week ago so there isn't a ton of content on there but there's a weeks worth. I've listened to 535 songs since last weekend. For those that don't know, I have a playlist that is currently sitting at 3,508 songs. I put that on random and listen away. I don't like to hear the same songs over and over and this is the way to do that. Out of the 535 songs I listened to last week, there wasn't any duplicates. I believe this is pretty close to real time as to what I listened to. I think as soon as the song finishes, it shows up on the site.

That's all I got I guess, nothing exciting but I guess it's better than nothing.

Saturday 9

Haven't posted here awhile so I'll do one of these question thingies. I read a couple of these every week but I only get around to posting one when I find the questions interesting. This one has to do with some music and some questions about sports so you'll see why I find it interesting. You can click the blog title pic to go to the original owner.

Live Like You Were Dying (2003)

Unfamiliar with this week's song. Hear it here.

1) This song is about a man whose father advises him to live life to the fullest, to become "the friend you'd like to have." How about you? Are you the friend you'd like to have?  I would like to think so, you know, if I had a friend.
2) The song lists several "bucket list" items: skydiving, mountain climbing, riding a bull. Have you done any of those things?  Would you like to?  I've done mountain climbing, hiked up the Grand Tetons in Wyoming. I would like to skydive, bull riding would be a definite no.
3) In the music video, Tim McGraw is wearing a white button-down shirt, blue jeans, and a cowboy hat. Which of those items is in your wardrobe?  Blue jeans, that would be it.
4) He wears a cowboy hat because he is embarrassed by the size of his forehead. When you wear a hat, are you more likely doing it for style, like Tim, or for protection from the elements?  I have no hair so I wear hats when it's cold. Baseball caps in the fall and a stocking hat in the winter.
5) McGraw's biological father was Tug McGraw, pitcher for the Mets and Phillies. How did your baseball team do this season?  The White Sox made steps to improve during their rebuilding process. Made it so I'm looking forward to next year when we get some pitching back.
6) Tim McGraw and wife Faith Hill live just outside of Nashville. They enjoy inviting friends over to sit around a bonfire, drinking beer and playing guitars. Tell us about the most recent get together you had with friends.  I guess that would be playing cards with the guys but technically, I only knew a couple of the guys there. I don't really have any close friends.
7) Tim likes his tattoos. He admits his silliest one -- a leprechaun wearing a cowboy hat -- was acquired during a night of drinking. Do you have a tattoo? If so, are you glad you have it and would you get it again?  I have a couple, both were chosen specifically to have the rest of my life. In other words, they weren't done just to have done, they have meaning.
8) In 2003, when this song was popular, the supersonic Concord took its last flight. When did you most recently board a plane?   What was your destination?   I couldn't tell you the year, I think I was in high school so we're talking late 80's, early 90's. I flew into Reno, NV. I was there to volunteer for the Special Olympics.
9) Random question: When did you last walk around the house naked?  Probably the last time I was home alone, which is very rare as my wife never leaves the house.

There you have it. Proof that I'm still alive.
