What the hell are you watching? vol. 4

I took pictures of my series priority pages on my DVR and we’ll go through them. I’ll post the pictures at random because most of the top priorities are the first ones listed because they only show once, usually the local networks. Then all the cable network stuff is listed next because they replay them all the time. We record so many shows that some days and times there are 4 shows on my list but it’s only a dual tuner DVR, which means I can only record 2 shows at a time. It almost always works out that a couple of them are on cable networks and they replay them right after or a few hours after. If not, I catch the episode online or on demand.

tv25-28

#25 – the Ellen DeGeneres Show – I don’t generally watch this show but I don’t mind when I do.  She has great guests most of the time and she is so generous to everyone.  How can you not like this show.

#26 – Grimm – This is a decent show, I’m not majorly into it like some people are but I do like it.  It’s loosely based on the original Grimm fairy tales and not the ones you grew up with.  The main character is able to see the fairy tale creatures for what they are and with the help of one of those characters, hunts down the creatures who have gone bad.  I do like supernatural shows and this one definitely fits.

#27 – Fringe – Another science fiction show and I love this one.  My wife and oldest daughter can’t stand it but I think it’s awesome.  This season is it’s final one because it’s numbers haven’t been great but it does have a cult following.  This year takes place in the future where they are going to war with the see’ers.  Those who don’t get involved have decided to just take over instead of watching.  I’m really looking forward to this season.

#28 – Alcatraz – This show has already been cancelled so I guess I can delete it when I get around to it.  I enjoyed this show.  Another science fiction show where the prisoners of Alcatraz disappeared one night in 1963 and are gradually turning up now.  They track down these fugitives while trying to investigate where they have been for the last 35-40 years.  Plus it had Hugo from Lost in it and I liked him.

Summary – Other than Ellen, all good science fiction shows.  Although one has been cancelled already.  Have I mentioned that I love science fiction.

tv1-4

#1 – Person of Interest – I like this show as well, my wife likes Jim Caviezel even though he isn’t the best of actors and we both like Michael Emerson from Lost.  Emerson’s character created a computer that predicts what people are going to do and in turn spits out people who need protecting.    Caviezel’s character is making up for years of killing for money by protecting and helping those who the computer tells him to.

#2 – Take the Money & Run – Not sure if this one is still on anymore.  They gave 2 everyday people a bunch of money in a briefcase.  They had an hour to hide the money and then 2 cops pick them up and interrogate them.  They have 48 hours to break them and find the money.  If the cops find it, they get to keep it.  If the other people keep it hidden, they keep it.  We found it interesting.

#3 – Touch – Jack Baur’s Keifer Sutherlands new show where his autistic son communicates to his dad for him to do things which end up helping all kinds of people.  It’s pretty cool to see how him helping a guy in LA, helps a guy in Iraq and some girls in Japan.  It’s a good show, but it’s kind of the same story over and over with different characters.

#4 – Brothers & Sisters – I used to watch this show for the first few seasons and then got out of it but my wife continued to watch it.  I believe it has since been cancelled.

Summary – Person of Interest I really like and Touch I did, but it’s getting to be the same every week.  The other 2, 1 is cancelled and the other may be as well.

What the hell are you watching? vol. 3

If not, I catch the episode online or on demand.

tv65-68

#65 – Ice Loves Coco – Not mine.  My wife loves the reality shows.  She says they make her feel better about her life.  If I watch this show, my eyes are usually on Coco’s chest.

#66 – Tabitha Takes Over – Also my wife’s, but I have partaken in some of the episodes.  It’s not something I have to watch but it is an interesting show.  It always amazes me how poorly run these business are and to see what goes behind the scenes is amazing.  Between the stupid owners decisions or the management who lets the employees walk all over them is crazy.

#67 – Celebrity Apprentice – My wife and I just started watching this show the last couple of the seasons.  It is a lot better than we thought it would be.  We both have the celebrity bug, my wife more than myself, but it’s more of a game than the typical reality shows, which is what I enjoy

#68 – Breakout Kings – Finally, one of my shows.  This is a pretty cool show, I believe it’s in it’s 2nd season.  An agent has a group of cons that he gets out of prison to help track down prisoners who have escaped.  They all have their unique ways of helping on the case.  Each prisoner they catch, they work some time off of their sentences.

Summary – I’m starting to think I record a lot more shows for my wife than I do myself.

tv41-44

#41 – Storage Wars – YUUUP!  I watch this.  I like to see Dave lose and I think Barry is hilarious.  I think Brandi is hot and Darrell is a moron.  And I think Brandi and Jarrod’s relationship is funny.  It’s always interesting to see what they pull from their lockers.  Oh yeah, and Brandi is hot.

#42 – Covert Affairs – This is a good action show.  I always like it when the ladies kick ass.  The main character (Piper Perabo) was asked to become a spy with little training in the field so she’s learning as she goes.  I don’t care for all of the political stuff involved but like I said, it’s a good action show.  And I like Auggie’s character as well.  An ex-military guy who lost his sight when a bomb went off.  He now does the logistical side at the CIA but he’s had a few action moments as well.

#43 – American Horror Story – My wife and I loved this show.  Although it’s 2nd season is supposed to be totally different as far as cast and location so I’m not sure how good this season will be.  The first season was pretty freaky and kept you on your toes, you didn’t always know what was happening or why, which is what I like.  I don’t like predictable shows.

#44 – Psych – I’ve been watching this since it was new in 2006.  It’s a comedy detective type of buddy buddy TV show.  The main character is very observant, so observant that he pretends to be a psychic and helps the police department solve crimes.  There are all kinds of 80’s references which add to the humor.

Summary – This is more like it, 4 shows I like and watch.  American Horror Story would be my favorite of the 4.

What the Hell Are You Watching? vol. 2

If not, I catch the episode online or on demand.

tv61-64

#61 – The Nine Lives of Chloe King – I’m going to guess that this show is cancelled because we haven’t seen it in awhile.  I’ll go look, hang on a sec.  Yep, according to the all knowing Wikipedia, it was cancelled almost a year ago.  Told you I hadn’t seen it in awhile.  For those who don’t know, Chloe King was a teenager who found out she had cat like powers.  She finds out she’s supposed to protect humans while there are assassins after her kind.  Cheri and I liked it, I’m a little disappointed it’s not on anymore.

#62 – Real Housewives of D.C. – Not mine, these shows annoy me.  The woman in it are just so much drama.

#63 – Real Housewives of OC – see above.

#64 – Khloe & Lamar – Another one of my wife’s show.  Although on occasion I have partaken in it, I think Lamar is funny.

Summary – Well that was easy, 3 out of 4 were Cheri’s shows.  She usually watches those while I’m at work.

tv89-92

#89 – Men at Work – My brother turned me on to this show.  It has Danny Masterson from That 70’s show in it.  It’s about 4 guys who work together, 2 are living the bachelor life, 1 has a girlfriend and Mastersons character is recently single again.  It has a lot of guy humor in it, so what’s not to like.

#90 – Perception – We’ve actually taken this show off the DVR.  We watched the first 3 or 4 episodes but just couldn’t get into it.

#91 – Anger Management – This is Charlie Sheen’s new show.  I think it’s pretty funny, it has it’s moments.  And Charlie Sheen, drugs or no drugs, is pretty funny.  Cheri enjoys it as well and she’s more picky than I am on shows.  Well, maybe not, since she likes that crap up above.

#92 – My Cat From Hell – Yeah, yeah, yeah.  My wife and I found this show recently and we both like it.  It’s kind of a cat whisperer.  He goes into peoples homes who have problems with their cats.  What’s funny is most of the time, it’s the people doing things the cat doesn’t like.  It’s also funny because the dude that does it, is this big, shaved head, all kinds of tattoo’s and piercings but is the nicest guy.

Summary – These are some of the newer shows because it’s towards the end of my priority list.  3 out 4 good shows.  I took Perception off last weekend so it wasn’t even that long ago when I deleted it.

What the Hell are you watching? vol. 1

I decided on a new series for the blog called What the Hell Are You Watching?  Basically, I took pictures of my series priority pages on my DVR and we’ll go through them.

I’ll admit, I watch a lot of TV.  Some say that takes me away from time with my kids or stuff like that.  Well that’s the advantage of a DVR.  I do watch a lot of TV, but I watch it on my time.  Which means I don’t turn down things to do just because something is on TV that night.

So let’s get to it, I’ll random the photos and pick 2.  The series priority doesn’t necessarily mean it’s my favorite show.  It’s just in order of what series I told the DVR to record first.

tv81-84

#81 – So You Think You Can Dance – This is actually my wife’s show.  I do watch some of them when there aren’t any of the shows I watch on the DVR.  Otherwise, my wife watches it when I’m at work.  Definitely not a priority on my list.

#82 – Hatfields & McCoys – I guess I can delete that one since it was a 3 night event and then it was over.  But it was an awesome mini-series, I forget what they called it, but it’s essentially a mini-series.  My wife even loved this series, she was actually the one that told me to record it because she had seen a preview for it.

#83 – Gene Simmons Family Jewels – This is my wife’s as well.  Although, in most cases it gets watched while I’m at home.  I do enjoy the show, I thought it was going to be a pretty typical rock star life but it is actually a very interesting show.  Gene has a big heart whether he wants to admit it or not.  Plus, it has Shannon Tweed in it.  I watched all her soft-core porn stuff before I was old enough to watch real porn.  Brings back memories of spanking it to Cinemax after dark.

#84 – Keeping up With the Kardashians – This is another one of my wife’s.  I am guilty of watching it sometimes.  I mainly stare at their boobs, shake my head at Kris and feel bad for Bruce.  Definitely wouldn’t want to have any part of that family.  Don’t tell my wife, but Scott is growing on me.  He doesn’t care how he acts where as everyone else is playing up to the camera’s.  I used to think it was the other way around.

Summary – You’ll notice on the high numbers, a lot of them will be my wife’s shows because most of what she watches is on cable channels.

tv53-56

#53 – Beyond Scared Straight – If you haven’t seen this, see it.  They take at-risk teenagers to prisons and actually show them what it’s like.  They get walked in around the prisoners and some of them even have one-on-one with the prisoners.  It’s always great to see the bad ass kid cry his eyes out by the time he leaves.  It helps some, but not all.  Most teenagers are too stupid to learn from other people, if they could, they would listen to their parents more.

#54 – Jerseylicious – Yeah, that would be my wife’s.  I don’t know that I’ve even seen the show.  It would be one of those shows that if she watches it while I’m home, then I completely ignore the TV.  I have no desire to watch these.

#55 – Switched at Birth – My wife and I both like this show.  It’s about 2 kids that were switched at birth.  Everyone finds out and it’s about everyone getting along and trying to be a family.  But, one family is rich, the other is poor.  One daughter is deaf, the other is not.  It’s an interesting show, better than I made it sound.

#56 – Tori & Dean/Home Sweet Hollywood – Another one I don’t watch.

Summary - Guess I should have named this series What the Hell is Your Wife watching?  There are a total of 96 shows that get recorded, I watch 59.  So over half is mine, the random just didn’t do well.  Look at this way, we knocked off a bunch of wife shows right off the top.  Stay tuned for vol. 2
