This Week - Journal

Monday (February 6th)

The line was a mess this morning. Soap and Hot Rinse were almost empty. The Etch and the Seal were off. By the time, I got the tanks filled up and the other 2 tanks heated up, we lost a few hours. Which in an 8 hour shift, you lose a few at the beginning of the shift and you automatically lose a couple hours at the end so we didn't get much done.

After work, I got gas and then dropped off the box to F&G and he gave me 3 Walmart bags full of blasters and packs that were already open. After I finished scanning my cards, I went ahead and pulled all of the cards out of the packages and skimmed through them. I saw a bunch I'll be keeping plus a lot of decent cards so I'm not sure who took what out of them.

Tuesday (February 7th)

The boss gave me a project to get done by Friday and I haven't been able to start it because every time I sit down to do it. I think I can knock it out pretty quick if I can just get the time to sit down to do it.

Came home and finished the cards I brought home Monday so I'll probably run by the shop tomorrow and get more.

Wednesday (February 8th)

I got the most sleep last night compared to the rest of the week but I was still tired today. Even napped a bit when I got home.

I ran to F&G after work and dropped off the cards I finished and grabbed some more. He said it was mostly Cubs cards so I don't see me getting too many out of it.

Thursday (February 9th)

Meeting have started to fire up again which means I'll spend half my days in them again.

Came home and Samantha was here. We chatted for about an hour and than Cheri and I ran to Lowe's to do some shopping and grabbed some supper at Sonic. Other than that, nothing too exciting.

Friday (February 10th)

It was Friday, Woo Hoo! I had a couple more meetings so they are definitely picking up. I spent a couple hours sorting bodies. I'm going to feel that in the morning. I got out there around 1:15.

Came home, showered and shaved and then went downstairs for a couple of hours. I finished the boxes that Fred gave me but I still have to check the cards I pulled for myself, then I can put them away and I'll probably take them back on Monday.

We got the Plymouth show tomorrow. I don't think it'll be a great show, financially because the Fort Wayne show is going on as well but I don't care. I just enjoy this show. It's always a good time with good dealers.

Cheri and I ran to Culver's for some supper. Felt good to eat out for a real meal again. I was surprised that it was the 1st time we've been to Culver's this year. Probably because they ditched Mountain Dew.

Saturday (February 11th)

Kevin and I did the Plymouth show. I had a really good time, better than we usually do and we always love that show. It was probably the busiest I have ever seen it and we did close or more than we ever have there. Came home with 3 cards from the show and a box of 1974 Topps to go through from Kevin.

Sunday (February 12th)

Woke up at 7 and rolled around in bed until 8 before I got up. I went downstairs and worked on getting my cards logged in most of the morning in. I still need to scan them but I plan on going over to Kevin's after work all week so I'm not sure when I'm going to do that.

I went over there today and spent about 5 hours sorting all the cards we got from the Man Cave. We got through about 10 or 12 boxes and I came home

This Week - Journal

Monday (January 30th)

Nothing special today at work. My whole crew was back, hopefully it will stay that way. The bosses boss wasn't there so that was nice but he'll be back tomorrow.

Ran to the card shop after work and dropped off the boxes he gave me to sort and picked up another. I came home and went to work on my cards as I want to finish them before I start the shops.

Tuesday (January 31st)

Not a whole lot going on at work. We're trying to convince the plant manager to bring back 3rd shift next week. Our report is getting redder and redder by the way.

Came home and finished logging and scanning my cards then we headed out to Wendy's for supper.

Wednesday (February 1st)

Work was work. They finally decided to bring 3rd shift back now that we're buried. Well, the department before ours is buried, us not so much but we will be.

Thursday (February 2nd)

This section is getting smaller and smaller as I don't have much to talk about other than work and I only want to say so much on here about work.

I finished the box from F&G but I still have to go through the White Sox before I organize the rest of the stuff I pulled.

Friday (February 3rd)

I hit my 40 hours at 11:30 so I got out of work early. On my way home, Cheri called and during the conversation, I volunteered to run by Walmart and grab our groceries. I was then going to go to the pharmacy but while I was waiting for our groceries to come out to the car, I looked up the local garden center to see their hours and they closed in half an hour. Once I got my groceries, I ran out to the garden center, thinking I'd have to drive back by Walmart to go home and I'll get my drugs then. Once I left the garden center, I realized I needed to get a birthday card for my mom so I ran to Walgreens to get the card because I would rather run out of my way, go into Walgreens and go back to Walmart then to go in to Walmart to get a card. I hate that place.

Came home to the house by myself, went downstairs and worked on cards but since no one was home, I turned my music up and jammed to some tunes.

Saturday (February 4th)

Got up this morning, at 7:30. It was so nice not to have to get up super early to go to show. We set up in South Bend which was only a 20 minute drive from home. Although I had to go to his house first which means I had to help unload the car.

It was a good show people wise, it got really busy for about a 2 hour stretch but it wasn't one of our best shows. We did alright, probably better than most but it was lower than what you usually do.

Sunday (February 5th)

Got up around 8:30 and headed downstairs to work on the new cards I've gotten. I've thought about using my personal Instagram for cards but I haven't pulled the trigger yet. I may even start a new one, I haven't decided.

We went over to my mom's to celebrate her 71st birthday. It was actually on the 1st but we got together for lasagna, as we do every year. It was good. I got to watch the ending of the Ohio/Michigan game so that was good too.

I'm on my own for supper tonight which probably means I won't eat. It's not like I can't lose the weight. I got in the scale but I forgot until I was dressed so it wasn't accurate, I didn't ever record it.

This Week - Journal

Monday (January 2nd)

My mom and stepdad came by and picked me up for breakfast. We went to Copper Creek again. We met my aunt, uncle, cousin and his wife there. Food was great, as always. Love the Greek Skillet. I will miss these breakfast get together's on Monday when I go back to work. Only issue I had was I had slept in my contacts and my eye was bugging the crap out of me. I took them out once I got home.

I worked on My Sports Obsession's year in review and posted it. I need to work on the one for this blog. Maybe tonight.

Pretty much hung out and watched TV until this evening. Cheri and I ran some stuff to Whole Foods to use the Amazon Drop Off and grabbed some Sonic for supper. We came home and I went looking for something to watch so we're trying Three Pines on Prime.

We didn't stick with Three Pines, Cheri thought it was too boring so I'll add it to the long list of shows that I'll watch when I'm alone. We're watching Black Adam now, she won't like it, it's not her type of movie but I've been wanting to see it so here we are.

Black Adam wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. I felt like those DC characters were generic Marvel characters. We also watched Blacklight with Liam Neeson. Again, not bad but not great.

Tuesday (January 3rd)

Woke up a couple of minutes before my alarm because work called. I wasn't too pissed since I was getting up in 2 minutes anyways, other than they woke up my wife.

My cousin picked me up and we headed to the local card show and spent about 6 hours there sorting cards. I did baseball and sorted them by players. I ended up filling up a 5 row box of all the cards I sorted.

Came home and ran to Taco Bell for supper. Now just trying to find something to watch. Tried Kaleidoscope but the wife wasn't into it. She doesn't pay enough attention to anything so it has to be really good for her to stay with it. I'll add it to my list of shows to watch when she's not around. We ended up looking for a movie on the Fire Stick, picked one and as always, it wasn't what we picked but it had Owen Wilson so we watched it anyways. It was called Secret Headquarters. It was alright, had it's funny parts but some of the action was pretty cheesy.

Wednesday (January 4th)

Woke up earlier to take Duke to the vet, he's getting a tooth extracted today. Cheri's really worried because they have to put him to sleep but she's not too bad since he's been put to sleep a couple of times without issues. Hit Taco Bell for my breakfast and then McDonalds for hers then headed home.

Been down in my card room scanning and logging some cards that I brought home yesterday and then worked on some spreadsheets.

The vet called and said Duke did well and we can pick him up at 4. I'm sure Cheri is relieved.

Duke is home now and Cheri will baby him back to health. We'll probably watch TV the rest of the evening but I'm not sure what we're doing for supper. I'll probably end up running out and getting something since she won't want to leave Duke even though he's just laying around.

I was right, I ran down to Subway (blah!) which I'm not a big fan of but that's what Cheri wanted. I was right, neither of us were all that happy with the food. There's a reason I've only eaten there one other time since 2020.

Thursday (January 5th)

Not too much happening today. I was going to go to breakfast with my uncles and cousin if I woke up before 9 but I ended up sleeping until almost 9:30. My cousin and I were going to go card shopping but we both decided we weren't in the mood and then I sat around for an hour playing on my phone while Cheri watched TV. I couldn't decide if I wanted to go work in my card room.

Work called me to do their Thursday check in and informed me that I will go back on Monday at my usual time so we'll see how that goes. My Plant Manager is supposed to call me today to let me know but I wouldn't be surprised if I don't hear from him. Not long after, my 3rd shift operator called me to bitch about maintenance not listening to him. I told him now you understand why I can't get anything done on 1st when it comes to dealing with them. They always think they know better. I tend to pace when talking on the phone for awhile so once I hung up with him, I decided to head downstairs. I don't really have much card stuff to do so I'll probably work on blogs and spreadsheets while I decide if I want to do anything else.

All the TV shows are coming back so we'll be sticking with the DVR for the most part for awhile in the evenings.

Friday (January 6th)

I ran over to Sluggos after I got up and we headed to Schererville to the Baseball Card Exchange. We hung out for a couple of hours between shopping and Sluggo talking. I picked up a couple cards for me and a couple for a guy I trade with Ann Arbor.

Just got teared up at the ending of Call Me Kat. Such a touching ending about the loss of Leslie Jordan. He was one of my wife's favorite people, and I like him as well so that news hit us a little bit.

We've been screwing around and looking more into the streaming in order to drop cable. I'm not sure what we're going to do. Essentially, the only reason we have cable which cost just over $100/month is so I can watch Michigan and White Sox games. Most everything else can be streamed and watched elsewhere. We've spent most of the evening working on it.

Saturday (January 7th)

I slept in way too long. I didn't wake up until 10 am which is going to make it really tough to get back into the routine work schedule of waking up at 3:45 am.

I got up and unhooked the cable box and DVR and put them in a bag and the wife and I headed out to pick up groceries and drop off the boxes to Xfinity. We got there and they told us we couldn't cancel the cable because we just signed a contract. Apparently when I talked to them last week, he signed us up for a whole new contract without even telling us. So now I have to call and get them to cancel the contract that I never signed up for. I tried calling outside the Xfinity store but after half an hour, I gave up so we could go get lunch. I even left it on the phone call the whole time we drove to Copper Creek before hanging up.

We came home after lunch and I hooked up the cable box (since I couldn't cancel it) to watch the Michigan/Michigan State basketball game and neither one of the boxes would work so I ended up streaming the game. They wonder why I want to cancel it. I'll call them tomorrow and drop everything off after work on Monday.

Went looking for something to watch this evening and settles on the Rig on Netflix. Only a couple episodes in and it's alright, intriguing enough to keep my interest. I'm not sure my wife likes it though.

Sunday (January 8th)

Set my alarm for 8 am. Still didn't get up until after 9. I didn't sleep the whole time between 8 and 9 but enough. Although it's after noon now and I still feel tired. I hate feeling tired, it's how I feel on work days but it needs to be done so I can get some sleep tonight. I can't be up until 2:30 in the morning again and plan on getting up at 3:45, that won't work, at all.

It's been a very blah day, I haven't really been into doing anything. I sat at my desk downstairs for awhile just scrolled through Reddit. I don't know if it's because I have to go back to work or other personal issues but I'm just very down today.

This Week - Journal

One thing I noticed about this past week is I'm a lot more active when I don't have to work so once I go back to work, I'm sure these posts will be a lot less wordy.

Monday (December 26th)

When I woke up, I shot off a text to my mom and asked if we were doing breakfast. She usually does breakfast with my aunt and uncle on Monday's and I've been tagging along with them since I was home the previous 2 Mondays. They weren't doing breakfast because my aunt and uncle's grandkids and great grandkid were in town so they were hanging with them before they went home. So Cheri and I went out with just my mom and stepdad to Copper Creek, which is a favorite breakfast spot of mine. It's a small diner kind of place but great food and they have the Greek Skillet that I love to have for breakfast. It was a nice breakfast, especially since Cheri went as she doesn't go out with us all the time. I always enjoy just hanging out with my family so it was a good time.

We came home and I headed for my card room to get the cards I got for Christmas logged in and scanned. Cheri started taking down the Christmas stuff. Just as I finished the cards I got yesterday, Cheri sent me a text saying that she should log all her ornaments into a spreadsheet. Her mom buys all of us ornaments, every Christmas so we have a ton of ornaments. We downsized our tree a year or two ago so we barely use any compared to how many we have. Of course, she text me that because I'm the king of spreadsheets so I went back upstairs and sat down and we worked all day on logging all the ornaments, then we logged all her Jim Shore stuff all while taking everything down. So we ended up spending the majority of the afternoon and evening doing all that stuff. It was a good time as well just because we usually just sit around and do casual chit chat, I always enjoy doing projects with her, but I hate projects in general so it's always a toss up on whether I'll enjoy the project. Spreadsheets are my jam though, so I enjoyed that one.

I need to make sure I silence my phone tonight because a few people are going back to work in the morning and I already know the line is going to be down for the first 4 hours because my plant manager didn't respond to my text last week about how to fix it and I don't want to be woke up at 6 am about it.

Tuesday (December 27th)

I didn't wake up to any missed phone calls, that's always a bonus. I knew they would be able to handle it, I was more worried the plant manager was going to call me to bitch about it. I talked to Ken and he did say they had all kinds of issues with the boiler all day but maintenance was there to work on it.

My cousin and I went out to the local card shop to do some shopping. When we walked in, a couple of the guys that set up at the card shows with us were there. One guy left not long after but the guy that sets up behind us at the Fort Wayne show hung out the whole time we were there (just over 3 hours) so we all were talking about sports and cards in general, I enjoyed it. That's part of the reason I like doing card shows is just the standing around with a bunch of guys and talking sports and such. I bought a few cheaper things for myself. I may go in next week with my cousin and help the card shop owner sort cards, which I love to do anyways. He'll pay me in cards, which I'm definitely cool with. We'll see.

Just hung out and did our usual this evening, watched TV while screwing around on the internet. We're thinking about ditching cable since we can stream most of the shows on services that we already have. I'll have to call the cable company in the next day or two.

Wednesday (December 28th)

Stayed home most of the day. Called the cable company and he lowered our bill a little but I think we're still going to cancel. It just isn't worth it. I hung out in my card room most of the day, logged and scanned the cards I got at the card shop yesterday and then started pulling all the cards that I need to scan for the TCDB. That took most of the day, I didn't realize how many I needed to scan. There were 3 pages and I only got the first 2 pulled.

Ken called from work and said they decided that a few people were coming in next week as well. They just can't make a decision in that place.

Samantha came over to use the shower and once she left and my son went to work, Cheri and I decided to go to Barnaby's for supper so we got dressed and headed out. You can tell it's the week that a lot of people have off because it was packed and loud, Cheri and I could barely stand it, we're getting old. By the time we got our pizza, most of the place had cleared out and it was better. The pizza was better than usual as well so there was that.

We hit Walmart on the way home to grab a headlight bulb for my car and I grabbed a strap for my Fitbit watch because I'm going nuts without having it on me and the one we ordered on Amazon isn't supposed to be here until next week.

Thursday (December 29th)

Worked in my card room in the morning. Finally finished pulling all the cards that need scanned (photo below). That is going to be a chore but at least I cleared my desk off of all the other cards since everything is pulled now, I put everything else away in my card room is back to being organized.

Each stack is a page on TCDB and there are 100 cards to a page. I've got to scan fronts and backs so it'll be a project. I should be able to get most of it (hopefully all of it) done while I'm off work.

The HR lady called me today, they call everyone on Thursdays on the weeks we are off to make sure everyone is doing ok because a lot people can't handle the time off because of the lack of money coming in. I told her I'm great, that's why I save all my vacation and personal time. I'm covered for the whole 3 weeks. She said they were discussing only having 70% of the work force coming back on the 9th. Yikes! I should be part of that 70% but I won't count on that until I know for sure. As much as I like having to not work, I only have so many vacation days and I don't want to burn them all up in January so hopefully I'll get called back. I should.

Went over to my mom's at 3 and met my brother, his buddy and my mom and stepdad and we left for Ann Arbor. We were heading up to the Michigan basketball game. We ended up being late because we didn't plan enough time to stop and eat. I kept throwing hints out that that was going to be the case but nobody listened. You would think they'd listen to the guy who's on time for everything. I had a great time, it was my first men's basketball game there. I've been to a woman's game before. The only part of the evening that sucked was we lost to somebody we should have beaten pretty easily. The team does not look as good as we had hoped. We didn't get home until after midnight.

Friday (December 30th)

Cheri had to go to the chiropractor so I tagged along as I usually do when I'm home and she goes. I didn't even get out of my pj's because I sit in the car while she's in there and listen to music. When she came out, we headed over to the Culver's where my daughter works and grabbed some food and said hi. We sat in the parking lot and ate, as we always do and then came home.

Apparently when I talked to the cable guy to lower our bill, he did a bunch of changes that I didn't ask for. I'm definitely ditching them next week. I'm just going to take everything and set it on their counter and tell the to cancel everything but the internet. We signed up for Philo just to see if we like it so we're probably use that to watch a bunch of stuff.

I went down and did some organizing in my card room in the afternoon. I moved a small desk into it and made a shelf of my "other" collectibles (photo below).

These are all things (mainly ornaments) that people have given me, I haven't paid for any of it but I like them so I put everything in my room but my sports collectibles keep growing and I needed the shelves for that stuff. So I added this small desk next to the desk that I actually use. I don't know if I'll keep it or not but it's definitely more organized than it was before. The top left is the Walking Dead with Groot from the Guardians of the Galaxy in front of it. The middle is Game of Thrones with Star Trek in the front and the whole right side is Star Wars.

Saturday (December 31st)

I actually had to wake up to an alarm clock today. I got up at 7:45 and headed over to my cousins where we drove to Lake Station and set up at the VFW for a card show. It was a pretty slow show but a couple of pretty big sales helped make it a good show financially. My brother came down and hung out with us for an hour or so. We were going to shut down about half an hour early so I could get to my brother's house for the Michigan playoff game but there was a guy still looking at cards so I called my mom and they picked me up early. Which was a good thing because that guy ended up spending $500.

I'm not even going to talk about the game, that was embarrassing and that wasn't the Michigan team I watched all year long. As always, I enjoyed hanging out with the family. Especially my brother as I don't get to see him much anymore since he moved an hour away.

Came home and chilled in the living room, watching TV until a couple of minutes before the ball dropped, we switched it over to watch the ball drop. We had to turn the TV way up once it did to block out the fireworks going off around us otherwise our dog freaks out. They went on for awhile so we flipped it over to the Nashville one where they were playing country music until the ball dropped there. We went to bed not long after that. We're such party animals in our old age.

Sunday (January 1st)

I pretty much spent the day in my card room and was working on blogs. I typed up everything above this and about half the music blog post. From here on out, I plan on working on those posts daily so it doesn't feel like it's taking nearly the amount of time that it did today.

I also scanned and logged 5 or 6 cards that my brother gave me yesterday.

The rest of the afternoon/evening I spent screwing around on the computer and watched some TV. Mainly the Michigan basketball (that was not the team I saw on Thursday) until Yellowstone came on. We also finished the last couple of episodes of Night Sky. I enjoyed that show, wish they wouldn't have cancelled it after 1 season. Not really sure what I think of 1923, it's ok so far but hasn't been as great as the previous season, whatever year that was.

Journal and this weeks links and viewing

I decided I’d make these a weekly post rather than trying to post it everyday.  As you can see, I kind of took the week off.  Basically, I’ve debated on the whole journal thing.  I don’t mind doing it (almost) everyday, but I can’t really decide whether it needs to be out there on the internet.  I don’t care that it is, I highly doubt anybody reads it other than my wife and mom.  I have a couple of followers that comment occasionally but how often they read, I have no idea.  I do like doing the journal everyday, because when I get caught up, it will eventually go to the My Life blog and be there for my kids when I pass on.  I suppose that’s morbid, but as a child who lost his father at 8 years old, it would be nice if I had known a little more about him other than the few stories I’ve heard from family.  My kids are a little older so they should keep more memories than I have.  My brother was only 5 and he remembers nothing about our father.

So what happened this week, not much in my exciting life.  Monday night, we went to watch my nephew play JV football.  I wasn’t surprised that Samantha went, I was however, that Trevor went.  He doesn’t usually go anywhere, he’d rather hang at home and play video games.  Although, I think he went because we would be at the school and he was hoping we would go to the Book Fair, but even if we did want to go, it apparently isn’t open after school because we tried to go on Wednesday after they got off the bus.  The game ended up being a family affair as my mom and stepdad, brother and grandparents went along with my cousin and their kids who we expected since it was their kid that was playing.  Thursday we took the kids to get jeans since it’s been a tad chilly around here.  Plus they are going camping this weekend and could use them there.  We were able to get Trevor a couple of pairs for $8.50/each at a resale shop.  We couldn’t find anything that would fit Samantha right, so we ended up having to go to Old Navy, which cost $36 so she only got one pair.  They have other pants (sweats, sports pants) they just didn’t have any jeans that fit.  Damn teenagers, always cost you more money.

I was supposed to go to a White Sox game today with a couple of guys I used to work with, that was the whole reason I didn’t go camping with the family.  I contacted one last night to find out if we were still on and apparently, he never bought the tickets.  That would have been nice to know.  The last time we texted, he asked if I wanted to go, that he and the other guy were going, I said yes, he said ok, he’d get the tickets.  I asked how much and he told and I said I’d get it to him today when we got together.  That was it, no text saying he didn’t get them or that we weren’t going.  Apparently, one of the guys mother-in-law died and that was the reason, which I understand, but why didn’t anybody tell me.  I put it on the vacation board at work a month ago to make sure I had if off.  I ended up not working anyways but I would have been pissed if I would have gotten some overtime and the passed up on it.

What I clicked on this week.  I read all kinds of blogs and such in my Feedly, but these I found in other places or a link in Feedly.

Journal, September 7th

I never even picked up my laptop yesterday which is why you didn’t get a journal post or anything.  I woke up at 9, watched Kickass on TV all morning (we had never seen it) and then went to my brothers for an all day Michigan/Notre Dame festivity.  Basically we just grilled out and hung out together all day.  It was a good day, until the actual game in the evening.  I won’t even go there now, let’s just say Michigan forgot to show up for it.

I had GPS’d (not a word, but that’s how I would have said it) the kids to see where they were (with theEX) and they were at the movies (again, 3rd time in the last 2 weekends) but the theaters are only 10-15 minutes from my brother’s house so I told his daughter to text Samantha.  She ended up calling her after texting for a few and begged theEx to bring her by.  So she did, so Samantha stayed with us last night.

We woke up this morning and needed to do some grocery shopping so we headed over to Wally Hell and hit the McDonalds for breakfast, theEx showed up to get Samantha back, we grocery shopped and now I’m back home for most of the day until I meet theEx again to get the kids back tonight.  We rented some DVD’s from Redbox while we were out so we’ll probably do that for awhile.

9:00 pm

We ended up watching all 3 DVD’s so I took them back on the way to get the kids.  I had to stop and get gas anyways so I turned them in and grabbed Divergent for Samantha who has been begging for it.

  • Kickass (TV) – We actually liked this movie, it was better than I thought it would be.
  • Mom’s Night Out (Redbox DVD) – It was better than expected.  I figured it would have some funny parts but it was funnier than expected.
  • Draft Day (Redbox DVD) – Great movie if you’re a football fan.  It was pretty insightful, I assume it was fairly accurate as the NFL allowed their logos and such in it.
  • Oculus (Redbox DVD) – This wasn’t to bad.  I never expect much from horror movies so it doesn’t take much for me to say it’s decent.  It was a little tough to follow with all the flashbacks but as long as I paid attention it wasn’t too bad.

Journal, September 5th

Rumor has it that they are finally getting around to do the hiring in at work which is supposed to include me.  Right now, I’m working through a temporary service and was promised to get hired in at 90 days.  All that changed when the HR lady got fired, so now I’m closing in on 180 days (6 months) and I’m still not hired in.  Hopefully that will happen in the next week or so.  I was hoping they would have said something today but they didn’t.

We had Taco Bell for supper (I know my mom is shocked, not!).  Every so often I get the chicken supreme chalupas.  They are yummy and I can even take them to work the next day and eat them cold and they are still yummy, if not more yummy.  I feel like I used yummy a lot, but then again, I am talking about Taco Bell.  Back to what I was saying, about half the time that I order the chalupas, they screw up and give me ground beef instead of chicken.  They are nothing alike on their own, let one inside a chalupa.  They screwed it up tonight.  Bastards.  They are opening a new Taco Bell right next door, it looks really close to being done and I actually thought it would have opened by now.  Hopefully, when it does open, they can give me a better than 50% on getting the order right.

When I picked up the kids and met theEx, my phone said it was 93° with a realfeel of 99°.  That was around 4:30.  When I went to get our supper, around 6, it was down to 81° with a realfeel of 88° and dropping.  We had some thundershowers roll through and it definitely cooled it down.

EverFall

I forgot to mention that I finished another book the other day.  I was close to finishing it at work and while I was waiting for Trevor to get home from school.

Ever Fall by Joe Hart

It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great.  It was definitely different which I don’t mind, but it was just a little weird.  I gave it 3 stars on Goodreads.  I started my next book the next day, I want to say on Thursday.  It sucks that it takes me 2 or 3 weeks to finish a book now but I wouldn’t trade my job and go back to my old one.  Just a sacrifice I have to make I guess.

Journal, September 3rd

7:00 pm

Work

Had some maintenance issues at work with the lines so it was another slow day.  I don’t think they posted the weekend though so there is that.  I forgot to look on my way out, I looked at lunch and nothing was up.

Kids

Picked up the kids after school and took them to the library.  I was overlooking Samantha at the computer while she was looking for books.  She typed in scary so I asked her about reading some Stephen King books.  She said she was interested so we went to that section and I started explaining each book.  I explained Carrie to her and that’s the one she wanted.  I’m a huge Stephen King fan and have read almost everything that he’s read so I’m hoping she really liked it.  I was going to have her start the Hollows series by Kim Harrison (my favorite series) but they didn’t have the first book there so I told her after this one, we’d go to the main branch and get it.

10:00 pm

I haven’t been doing very well at getting through my daily’s.  It’s been taking me most of the evening because I keep getting sidetracked and doing other stuff.  I’m a slacker.  By the time I get through them all, it doesn’t make sense to start something else so I just usually scroll through feedly so I guess that’s not a bad thing since I’m now 15,102 behind.  Yikes!

Journal, September 2nd

So after all the standing around and searching for work to do last week, I was actually busy.  Both lines were running, both had a changeover plus I set up for a 3rd one.  Of course, when I wasn’t busy last week, the boss didn’t really have anything for me to do.  Today, he wants a count on all the subs.  I got it done, but not without rushing all over the place.  I kept forgetting it was Tuesday though, I don’t want to work Saturday because I’m supposed to go tailgating at the Notre Dame/Michigan game but since I didn’t get paid for yesterday, I could use the extra dough if we do.  I guess I win either way.

Journal, August 31st-September 1st

Yesterday

Did nothing.  Worked on my cards most of the day.  I got all my new stuff logged into the computer, I’ll probably put them away tomorrow.  I also logged in all my White Sox cards from 1973-1982 so I’m slowly making headway there.  My cousin keeps sending me cards and I don’t always know what I have and what I don’t until I can get everything logged into Google Drive spreadsheets.

Apparently the kids spent the whole day at the JackAss’ new current home, rehab.  Why theEx spends the few days she has the kids all day sitting at a rehab home is beyond me.  I’ve raised my kids to polite and now I keep telling them they need to tell their mom that they don’t want to be there but they won’t.  I guess that’s my fault.

Today

12:20 pm

It’s the first of the month, so I had to go back and figure out all my stats that I keep for last month.  I had to charge my old phone for a little bit before I could finish some of them since I switched phones a week or so ago.

Cheri is gone today, she went to visit our oldest daughter at college so I have the house all to myself until tonight when I get the kids back from theEx.  My day by myself so far has consisted of listening to Spotify while I have the White Sox game from Saturday afternoon on, while doing online stuff.  My plans for later, watch the White Sox game from yesterday, while listening to music and doing my online stuff.  Some exciting stuff here, I know.  The only decision I have to figure out is, doing I want to do some stuff with my blogs or work on my cards.  Decisions, decisions.

3:45 pm

Just finished up filling up the Tumblr accounts for the week.  I really don’t have much for a few of them.  I had to set a couple to 1 post a day just to last all week.  Maybe I should spend the rest of the day going through my Feedly as that is where I get most of that content.

It has been pouring rain for about half an hour now.  Hope it stops before Cheri goes to make her way home.  Her car sucks ass in the rain, it slides easily.  We put new tires on it and it still slides, it just must be too light of a car or something.  Hers looks heavier than mine but mine does pretty good in the slippery conditions.  Who knows?  We’ll see if she even leaves early enough to get home before it’s dark since technically, she shouldn’t be driving in the dark.  I predict it’ll be way after dark, she won’t want to leave Skyler any earlier than she should.

6:30 pm

I’ve been pretty much going through Feedly since what I wrote up above.  I’ve gotten through a bunch but have only found a couple for my blogs.  This isn’t going too well.  I still have 14,500 to go though, but I have to get my shoes on and go get the kids.  I’m going to grab some supper while I’m out as well since I haven’t eaten anything all day.  Which is typical with me, if Cheri doesn’t make something for me to eat, I’ll just sit here until I get my lazy ass up to go get something.  In this case, I knew I had to leave the apartment this evening so I just waited it out.

8:00 pm

So I go and pick the kids up from theEx, and guess who is in the car?  The JackAss.  So theEx made the kids sit at the rehab center yesterday for 9 hours and then today he was allowed to leave.  She took Samantha to a movie on Saturday night, and then they all went to a movie today.  I wish I had their kind of cash lying around.  It would be nice if they would actually use some of that money to take care of the kids, instead of the measly support they give me.  How they have any money is beyond me, they have to be drowning in hospital bills.  Actually, I know how they still have money, they don’t pay any of their bills.  That’s why they’ve lived in 8 or 9 places in the last 4 years.  They stay until they can’t afford it, then move on.  I don’t know why people keep renting them places.

11:50 pm

I was right, Cheri got home after 9.  It’s tough always being right.  I’m heading for bed soon, although I’m not tired which isn’t a good thing.

Journal, August 30th

9:30 am

Is it noon yet?

11:00 am

Finally got a couple of RSVP’s for Trevor’s party, nothing like waiting until the last minute considering the party is at 4.  The 2 boys that are staying the night are both coming and in even better news, both their parents are picking them up early tomorrow.

10:00 pm

Michigan did what they were supposed to do and stomped Appalachian State.  They looked good doing it too, I just hope it carries over to next week when the opponent is a little tougher.

Trevor’s party was a hit.  5 of his friends showed up, which considering we got 3 RSVP’s, that would be 2 people that just showed up.  I think that’s just rude but whatever, I’m glad they showed up.  I was afraid nobody was going to show up at the rate we were getting RSVP’s.  We ended up getting the first one yesterday, and the other 2 this morning.  I’m glad this wasn’t something we really had to plan to the T.  The party was a hit though, I think everyone enjoyed themselves and Trevor invited 2 of the friends to spend the night.  They have been pretty much hiding in his bedroom all evening on their devices.  They went outside for 5 minutes but it started to rain and they had to come back in.  They’ve been good though, hardly a peep out of them.
