Music Monday’s #16

zzz-musicmondays

Welcome to the next edition of Music Mondays.  It’s pretty basic, I take a playlist and put it on random, and post what comes up.

  • Playlist – “Anything & Everything”
  • Description – Anything from Christian to Rock, Rap to Country, Classical to 80’s.  It goes from the 1960’s to current.  Pretty much anything and everything that I like.
  • Number of songs on the playlist – 1,707 songs (up 13 songs from last post)

  1. Whatever (Our Lady Peace)
  2. Winds of Change (Russ Taff)
  3. You Wouldn’t Know (Hellyeah)
  4. All 4 Love (Color Me Badd)
  5. Eye of the Tiger (Survivor)
  6. Rocketown (Michael W. Smith)
  7. Loser (3 Doors Down)
  8. Kiss A Girl (Keith Urban)
  9. No Taboo (White Heart)
  10. Invisible Touch (Genesis)
  11. What’s It Like (Everlast)
  12. Crazy Little Thing Called Love (Queen)
  13. Time After Time (Cyndi Lauper)
  14. Bidi Bidi Bom Bom (Selena)
  15. These Days (Foo Fighters)
  16. Foundations (Geoff Moore & the Distance)
  17. Are You Ready (DeGarmo & Key)
  18. We Are in Love (Harry Connick Jr.)
  19. Get Lucky (Daft Punk)
  20. Heat of the Night (Bryan Adams)

Pretty decent mix of different genres.  Rock, Christian, Classic Rock, Country, 80’s and even a Jazz song and a Spanish artist.  That’s why I use this Spotify, so I can get a nice mix of everything.  My favorite song on this list is probably the Foo Fighters, These Days.

In this section, I randomly choose an artist from above and show all the songs I have on my playlist.  I used Random.org, put the numbers 1-20 and click random 3 times, the number 18 came up at the top which would be Harry Connick Jr in accordance to the list above.

This is a good choice since now he is on American Idol and people are learning who exactly he is.  I’ve always been a fan of his but I don’t listen to him enough to know a lot of his songs.  I fell in love with one song of his a long time ago and picked up a few others throughout the years.  But I believe he has a crap load of albums and songs.  For the uneducated, you may know him from a couple of songs on the When Harry Met Sally soundtrack like “It Had To Be You” or “Let’s Call the Whole Thing Off” or maybe you didn’t know he even sang and you knew him from the movies “Copycat” or “Independence Day”, I know he has other movies but those are the first 2 that come to my mind.  The ladies will remember “Hope Floats” and “PS, I Love You.”  Now that we get to see him on American Idol, we are starting to get to know the real Harry.  He’s straightforward and blunt but polite (most of the time) and funny.  I’ve already heard him tell one guy (who had no business trying out for Idol) just to go, that he was disrespecting the show just to get on TV.  Oh yeah, and the girls think he’s hot, so there’s that too.

harryconnickjr

I have 6 songs from his but I should probably go listen to his stuff and add more.  The song I mentioned above that I fell in love with was “We Are in Love”, a friend of mine had that album so we listened to it a bunch back then which is where those 3 songs came from, and as you can tell, the other 3 I ran across in movies.  Because of the type of music he plays, I just don’t run across much so like I said, I need to go listen to some of his albums sometime.  Maybe when I’m done running through the playlist, I only have a couple of hundred of songs left before I start over again.

zzz-trackoftheday

Track – Are We All We Are

Artist – P!nk

totd-screencap24

I haven’t done a Track of the Day in awhile so I went through and hand picked this one out of the ones I had saved just because I saw her perform at the Grammy’s last night.  The original reason I saved this song was just to tell you that I have recently discovered P!nk.  My wife introduced me to her a few years ago and I love a lot of her music and the more I learn about her, I love her as a person as well which you don’t get to say about celebrities too much anymore.  The song above isn’t even my favorite by her, but pretty much anytime I hear a song by her, I think of my wife and that certainly isn’t a bad thing.

Here’s her performance from last night.  It’s amazing enough that she does the acrobatics but to sing while doing this (I’ve read where she doesn’t lip sync) is amazing.

Music Mondays #10

zzz-musicmondays

Welcome to the next edition of Music Mondays.  It’s pretty basic, I take a playlist and put it on random, and post what comes up.

  • Playlist – “Anything & Everything”
  • Description – Anything from Christian to Rock, Rap to Country, Classical to 80’s.  It goes from the 1960’s to current.  Pretty much anything and everything that I like.
  • Number of songs on the playlist – 1,544 songs (up 0 songs from last post)
  1. Born on the Bayou (Creedence Clearwater Revival)
  2. Faith (George Michael)
  3. Spinnin’ Round (DC Talk)
  4. Count On Me (Jefferson Starship)
  5. Ho Hey (the Lumineers)
  6. Closing Time (Semisonic)
  7. Said I Loved You…But I Lied (Michael Bolton)
  8. We Didn’t Start the Fire (Billy Joel)
  9. I Can Love You Like That (John Michael Montgomery)
  10. Savin’ Me (Nickelback)
  11. the Power of Love (Huey Lewis & the News)
  12. A Change Would Do You Good (Sheryl Crow)
  13. Rodeo (Garth Brooks)
  14. From This Moment (Shania Twain)
  15. Liberate (Disturbed)
  16. VooDoo (Godsmack)
  17. Affair of the Heart (Rick Springfield)
  18. Girl Can’t Help It (Journey)
  19. Epiphany (Staind)
  20. If God Is For US (Who Can Be Against Us) (DeGarmo & Key)

Wow!  I made it 20 songs without a repeat artist.  Lots of 80’s and modern rock, and not much Christian.  My wife would be happy with that, she doesn’t like it when the Christian songs pop up in the car.  I actually made another playlist without the Christian songs (and minus a few others) that I play when she’s in the car now.

This is also the first time that in 10 posts that I hadn’t added any songs since the previous post.  Maybe I’m finally running out of songs, although I doubt it.

I’ve decided to randomly choose an artist from above and show all the songs I have on my playlist.  I used Random.org, put the numbers 1-20 and click random 3 times, the number 10 came up at the top which would be Nickelback in accordance to the list above.

Random Thoughts From A Random Guy

I’ll probably lose followers for admitting that I listen to Nickelback.  To be honest, I’m not sure why everybody hates them.  I don’t not listen to someone because everybody else doesn’t like them.  If I like their music, I like their music.  As you can see above, I enjoy at least 7 of their songs.  My kids love Rockstar, I think my favorite is probably Photograph.

zzz-trackoftheday

Track – Piano Man

Artist – Billy Joel

totd-screencap18

Billy Joel has a crap load of songs that I like and that could be considered Greatest Hits of the decade.  My personal favorite song of his is Piano Man.  I don’t really have a reason for it, but I love it.  Lots of different stories all in one song, but what I really like is the chorus

Sing us a song you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feeling alright

I’ve always liked piano music too, maybe that has something to do with it as well.

Music Mondays #9

zzz-musicmondays

Welcome to the next edition of Music Mondays.  It’s pretty basic, I take a playlist and put it on random, and post what comes up.

  • Playlist – “Anything & Everything”
  • Description – Anything from Christian to Rock, Rap to Country, Classical to 80’s.  It goes from the 1960’s to current.  Pretty much anything and everything that I like.
  • Number of songs on the playlist – 1,544 songs (up 10 songs from last post)
  1. I am a Man of Constant Sorrow (the Soggy Bottom Boys)
  2. Purple Rain (Prince & the Revolution)
  3. Open Book (Petra)
  4. Bitch Came Back (Theory of a Deadman)
  5. Circle Slide (the Choir)
  6. Conga (Gloria Estefan, Miami Sound Machine)
  7. There’ll be Sad Songs (To Make You Cry) (Billy Ocean)
  8. California Love (2Pac)
  9. Open Arms (Journey)
  10. Making Love Out of Nothing at All (Air Supply)
  11. Second Chance (Shinedown)
  12. Last Chance Café (Allies)
  13. Rollin’ (Limp Bizkit)
  14. the Diary of Jane (Breaking Benjamin)
  15. If You’re Gone (Matchbox Twenty)
  16. Weathered (Creed)
  17. When the Going Gets Tough, the Tough Get Going (Billy Ocean)
  18. Everybody (Ingrid Michaelson)
  19. How Deep is Your Love (Bee Gees)
  20. Prayer (Disturbed)

Definitely a good mix in here.  I like the song Bitch Came Back sandwiched between 2 christian songs.  Over 1500 songs and I end up with 2 Billy Ocean songs too  Told you the random sucked.

I’ve decided to randomly choose an artist from above and show all the songs I have on my playlist.  I used Random.org, put the numbers 1-20 and click random 3 times, the number 15 came up at the top which would be Matchbox 20 in accordance to the list above.  This might take a few screen caps.

matchbox twenty - Google Search

I have 6 songs from Matchbox Twenty.  I used to have the CD Yourself or Someone Like You and really liked the whole CD but I only took the 4 from above.  I’d probably have more of their songs if I took the time to listen to them all.  I don’t ever listen to CD’s anymore, usually I’ll hear the song somewhere and like it and add it.  Don’t tell my wife that I only have 6, she loves Matchbox Twenty, luckily she probably quit reading my blog or at least these posts because she doesn’t like half my music.

zzz-trackoftheday

Track – Dreaming of You

Artist – Selena

totd-screencap17

I had never heard of Selena until I saw the movie about her career.  I’m not even sure where I saw it, someone else must have thrown it in somewhere.  But there was a song or two that I liked, this being on of them.  A tragic story, she gets killed right before she hits it big in the states.  I want to say it was the president of her fan club (an employee of hers) that did it after she was fired.  Something like that, it’s been awhile.

Some lyrics.

Late at night when all the world is sleeping
I stay up and think of you
And I wish on a star that somewhere you are
Thinking of me too

Cause I'm dreaming of you tonight
Till tomorrow I'll be holding you tight
And there's nowhere in the world I'd rather be
Than here in my room dreaming about you and me

I hate the radio

I hate the radio.

I understand why they have to have commercials and all the talking but it doesn’t make me like it any less.  It only takes me 7-10 minutes to get from home to work.  So when I get in my car, there is a distinct possibility that I will only manage to hear part of 1 song if they are on or go on a commercial break.  It’s way worse in the mornings because they run their stupid morning shows so I hear no music anyways.  It does no good to flip through the channels because they all have morning shows.  I used to listen to the Bob & Tom show in the mornings and I loved the show.  But it was a 25-30 minute drive to work so I got into the conversation, even if I got stuck with a commercial, it wouldn’t be the whole trip.  So I’m not against morning shows in general, just when I don’t have time to really get into anything.  So I listen to my Spotify playlist.

Depending on what section I’m in at work, I may get 2 hours or so of listening to Spotify.  2 weeks of the month I get a couple hours, 2 weeks I don’t.

On the way home from work, 7-10 minutes and since I get off at the top of the hour, it’s usually commercials to start with, so I listen to Spotify.

So you can see why I pay for the Spotify premium service, I get plenty of use out of it.  You can also see why I have such a huge playlist.  It currently has 1468 songs, up 38 songs from yesterday.  As you can see I’m constantly adding to it.  Another reason I don’t like the radio is because when a new song comes out, they play it every hour.  So there is even a good chance that in that 7-10 minutes to and from work, that I will hear the same song.  What I do with my Spotify playlist (Anything & Everything) is, I create a 2nd playlist (A&E II) and organize them and start playing it from the top to the bottom until I get through it.  First, I organized them A-Z by title, then I played it on random for awhile, then I organized them Z-A.  Now I have them organized by time, longest to shortest.  I have no idea what I’ll do next, but since I have 1400+ songs, it’ll probably take me a couple of months to get through all of them so I got time.

So in the end I have to say, I love Spotify and I hate the radio.

Track – Watch the Lamb

Artist – Ray Boltz

totd-screencap16

This is one of those old christian songs from back in the day.  It’s about a father taking his kids and a lamb to be sacrificed in Jerusalem on the day that Jesus is crucified.  It talks about how the soldier made him help carry the cross and witnessing the crucifixion up close until he dies.  Here is the end of the song, that makes you tear up.

I stood for what seemed like years, I lost all sense of time,
Until I felt two tiny hands Holding tight to mine.
My children stood there weeping, And I heard the oldest say
"Father please forgive us, The lamb, Ran away.

Daddy daddy, What've we seen here, There's so much that we don't understand,"
So I took them in my arms, We turned and faced the cross.
And I said, "Dear children Watch the lamb."

Randomness #17

Just a quick holla to let you know I posted another story on Yahoo (actually a week ago).  While my other posts were sports related, this one may help all you out.  I’ve done it for years and never thought to share the info.  I googled after I posted it and the information is out there but nobody told me, I figured it out on my own.  Click below to check it out.

How to Skip the Previews on a DVD - Yahoo! Voices - voices.yahoo.com

If anything, click it, let it load, then close it.

The kids have met their teachers and seen their classrooms, they know where they are sitting and who else is in their class.  Now they just have to get on the bus and go to school, which they will be doing tomorrow morning.  They are both nervous, as am I, because this is a new school system for them.  We are really close to getting approved for a mortgage loan (we go back Thursday to find out if we are approved yet) and we are only looking for a house in 1 school district.  So we decided to go ahead and switch their schools now so it didn’t have to be done in the middle of the school year.  Now we just have to get the house.

Samantha seems ok with the switch, she knows more people than Trevor does at the school because they’ve been playing little league in this district for a few years, but since Samantha made the all-stars, she basically played on two teams this past year.  We only saw one of her team mates in her class but we saw a few more out in the halls.  Samantha is definitely more of the social butterfly than Trevor is.  Talk to her once and she’ll act like your best friends for life.  Trevor, he’s quite and is in his own little world.  He seems a little different because he isn’t the typical rambunctious boy, he does want to play with his lego’s or video games but he’s not a rude, loud or physical.  He’s quiet, helpful and sensitive so I worry more about him going to a new school.  He had friends at his old school but to watch him interact with his classmates, he didn’t seem to really fit in.  Plus he has told me he’s nervous about starting a new school and that just makes me even more nervous for him.

The good news is, before they were old enough to be in school, I always thought Trevor would struggle and Samantha would shine.  It’s actually been the opposite.  Samantha struggled some her first few years and Trevor has shined.  Samantha picked it up last year and had a good one so hopefully she’s coming around now.  But I’ll always worry about Trevor when it comes to his classmates.  I do have some worries about Samantha and her classmates as well, but not as many and totally different worries.

Track – Dream On

Artist – Aerosmith

totd-screencap15

I figured since I skipped my Music Mondays post yesterday (I was wore out) that I would at least give you a Track of the Day this evening.

If you would ask me what my favorite Aerosmith song is, this is it.  I don’t know why exactly and I like a lot of their songs but this one has always stuck out for me.  Maybe I remember it being released, I was less than a month old so maybe I associate it with cuddling in my mom’s arms.  Who knows?

  8. For My Growing (Mylon & the Broken Heart)
  9. Head Like A Hole (Nine Inch Nails)
  10. Little Deuce Coupe (the Beach Boys)

  19. Are You Gonna Go My Way (Lenny Kravitz)
  20. Citizen/Soldier (3 Doors Down)

You see I’ve added 16 from the last post (2 weeks ago).  Those were mainly songs from the Thompson Twins, Cars and Wilson Pickett.  Plus I added a song each from Ugly Kid Joe, Florida Georgia Line, Enya, Stryper and Bruno Mars.

I’ve decided to randomly choose an artist from above and show all the songs I have on my playlist.  Exciting stuff I know.

I used Random.org, put the numbers 1-20 and click random 3 times, the number 15 came up at the top which would be Boyz II Men in accordance to the list above.

Random Thoughts From A Random Guy- Music Mondays

I have 8 songs from Boyz II Men on my playlist.  I listened to Cooleyhighharmony all the time when I was growing up.  Although, End of the Road and In the Still of the Nite weren’t actually on that album.  I believe I bought End of the Road as a single and In the Still of the Nite was on the flip side of the cassette.  I went through a R&B and some rap phase for awhile, I still like some of it but I have grown to think most of it sounds the same.

zzz-trackoftheday[3]

Track – Believe in Love

Arist – Russ Taff

totd-screencap14

Russ Taff was one of my favorite (still is) Christian artist.  He does a multitude of different types of music from rock to country to old gospel.  He even did a great Christmas album in jazz.  The song above is one of my favorites of his and is also from my favorite album by him.

Randomness #16

IMG_0932

For those of you asking, which is nobody, Samantha lost her last All-Star game and was eliminated.  But before I get to that, I have to tell you what happened when I got there.  I drove Cheri’s car because I had very little gas in mine and was trying to make it to Friday (it was on Thursday).  She has to be there an hour before the game starts so I drive out early and stay there and then my mom picks up Cheri and they show up at game time.  Anyways, when we got there, we got out of the car and went to the trunk to get her bat bag and my chair.  It was still locked, then I realized it was still running.  CRAP!  It was the first time I’ve locked my keys in the car in probably 20 years (I used to do it a lot when I was in school).  So Samantha had to do her pre-game practice in her slide on sandals and borrow the coach’s glove.  I felt like a dumb ass sitting on the bleachers with all the other parents knowing what I did.  Had I taken my car, you can’t lock the keys when the keys are in the ignition.  Stupid car.

But back to the game, it wasn’t pretty either, her team only came up with 2 hits and I’m not so sure it was their pitcher.  Our girls just weren’t into the game, at all.  Samantha only had 1 at bat and she grounded out.  I was still happy for her, she made All-Stars and she loves to play but she is done for the year.

Random Thoughts From A Random Guy

I’ve taken some time to update a couple of my pages above.  I caught myself up on the book page (although I will be taking some time in the future to change the layout) and I also updated my Social Media page, I deleted the GetGlue and FourSquare sections.  I don’t use either of them anymore.  GetGlue I stopped using when I updated the app on my phone and one of it’s permissions was to take photos and videos without my knowledge.  FourSquare I wouldn’t mind using, if more people did.  On the rare occasion (usually Walgreens) there would be a discount for checking in but I just got tired of using it.  I didn’t have many friends on it and only one local so it was kind of pointless to even know where those friends were.  I thought it would be fun to be close to someone and search them out, and surprise them.  But with nobody in the area, that really wasn’t going to happen.

I need to update the Track of the Day (I actually need to post more of those) and I wish I could add to the Published Content page but I haven’t come up with anything to write and publish.

Our foreman’s carry a cordless phone at work.  On the weekends, since the office personnel isn’t there, all phone calls are routed over the intercom so he knows when someone is calling.  While I was on my break Sunday, he came in and sat with me for a few minutes until they needed him on the line.  He walked out of the breakroom and left the phone on the table.  So I called the work number and listened to it ring over the intercom.  Since he didn’t have the phone on him, he had to run to the shipping office to answer it.  Apparently he didn’t realize he left the phone in the breakroom as he ran right past it to get to the office.  When he answered, I played stupid.  I basically repeated what he said.  He answered with the company name so I asked if it was the company name.  He said yes, this is his name, I asked if this was his name.  I told him my name was his name.  He eventually got mad and hung up on me.

After my break was over, I walked into the shipping office and handed him his phone and started repeating our conversation.  He proceeded to tell me that he called the cops and reported a prank call.  We argued, he kept to his story, I told him he was full of shit.  As I was walking back to my line, my phone rang.  It was a local number and I figured it was my foreman and he was going to act like a cop so I just sent it to my voicemail.  When I got upstairs, I sent Cheri a text message, gave her my foreman’s phone number and told her to copy and paste it to him.  He wouldn’t have her number in his phone.

Blogger- Random Thoughts From A Random Guy - Pages

I thought it was pretty funny but he never responded and I didn’t see him for a few hours until I was leaving.  I asked him if he got it, he said yes and asked if I got his phone call.  Apparently he had a friend call me to pretend to be the cops so I wouldn’t recognize the number.  We both think alike.

Tonight (Thursday) is Samantha’s birthday party at the local roller rink.  She’s been asking for one for years but we never had the money.  I don’t this year either but my mom offered to help pay for it so she’s finally getting it.  I’m debating on whether or not to skate because of my back.  I’ll be ok as long as I don’t crash which I don’t do often but it happens on occasion.  Last time we went was 2008.  I have some videos on my YouTube channel if you want to check those out.  There’s nothing special on my channel, mainly family stuff, which is why I don’t advertise it.

Cheri had Samantha help her with the cupcakes and cake.  It was a bonding experience that I know Samantha loved and I loved seeing it.  Their relationship has grown by leaps and bounds in the last 6 months or so.  The kids are much more comfortable around her.  I’ve always let it just grow rather than force it.  I’ve never told them to hug or kiss her (they do everybody else when leaving) and I’ve never told them to tell her goodnight.  They do both on occasion, not all the time, but more and more.  I know theEx has told them to kiss and hug the JackAss and Samantha says she doesn’t like it at all.  She actually complains about him a lot to us now but I don’t know if she’s just doing that because she knows we don’t like him or if she actually doesn’t like him.  I don’t think she does, but what do I know.

Track – No Se Tu

Artist – Luis Miguel

totd-screencap13

Holy crap!  It’s been over 4 months since I did one of these.  I have a bunch saved and I’ve been forgetting to throw some up here so I started where I left off.  If you know this song, congrats, and you probably speak Spanish.  This song is completely in Spanish, and no, I don’t speak it.  This song was in the movie “Speechless” a number of times.  It played along with the video and it’s supposed to be a love song.  I had a friend translate for me way back when I first heard it and I remember liking it.  I don’t remember what exactly it’s about now, but I still like it.

Getting caught up

Well, I finally did it.  It took a couple of days but I have finally gotten through my Google Reader.  No, I’m not caught up on all the reading, I finally went through everything that gets fed there and got rid of a lot of stuff.  I’ve posted before how I am no longer allowed to use my Kindle up on the line so I just keep getting further and further behind on my reading so this has been coming for awhile.  I started with 727 things being fed to it.  The majority of those are blogs with some instagram accounts and other websites that I keep up on.  Now I have it down to 470.  The majority of those are sports or sports card related.  I would guess probably around 300 of them are, and a lot of those I just skim and look at the cards.  I pretty much kept all the sports cards blogs as long as they’ve posted in the last year or so.  I deleted a lot of the mommy blogs, not all, but most.  I found out that most of them I was just skipping anyways.  I also deleted most of the blogs that I have to click a link to go to their site to finish reading them.  It’s just annoying but there were a few of my favorites that I left even though they did that.  Although off the top of my head, I can only think of 2 that stayed.  I also deleted most everything that hasn’t posted in over a year.  I even created a folder that I put blogs that haven’t posted yet this year but did last year, just in case they come back to blogging.  There were quite a few blogs that didn’t exist anymore.  You would think they would at least post a Hasta La Vista post before leaving but for the most part, they just disappeared.

So now that I got those cut down, I’ll see if I can’t actually stay caught up.  You know, after I get caught up.  Of course, I’ve also added a few.  I have a cousin who is apparently starting a blog, he’s only posted once and it sounds like it’ll be a religious blog so if that stays I’ll only be skimming it.  He’s family, so I’ll follow along regardless if I like the content.  Unlike most of my family who don’t read anything I write.  I also have a friend who started a blog about his goal of getting in shape.  He’s posted daily (I think) for a week now.  It’s torture, because I’m jealous that he has the motivation to keep working out and doing what he needs to do.  I’d plug it here but I’m not sure he wants it public or not, he posted it on his Facebook page but those are all people he knows.  If he reads this post, he can let me know if he wants me to plug it for him.

Track – So What

Artist – P!nk

totd-screencap12

What the hell is that?  A Track of the Day, it’s been awhile,  I’ve had some of these saved up and just forget to throw them up.  So here you go.  Pink or P!nk.  I didn’t realize she used an exclamation point until recently.  My wife got me into listening to her, and I’ve gotten to like a bunch of her songs.  Plus, she’s kind of has a bad ass hotness to her.  Which is kind of what this song is about.

Forcing one out

Yeah, I’m still alive.  There’s nothing going on but yet, there’s stuff going on.  I’ve gone from posting 15+ posts for the last 5 months to, this will be my 6th post this month at the halfway point.  I’m not really doing anything different and I’ve had a few things happen that I could post about, but I just can’t find the desire to sit down and type something.  I’m kind of forcing this one out.

twitter4

I spent a day changing my Twitter up.  I pretty much used my personal account for everything.  But I’ve divided it into multiple accounts so those that follow this blog or my family and friends don’t have to deal with all the sports tweets.  Then I also started another account to do daily tweets.

  • jccsst1022 – My personal account, which also goes with this blog and my A Day in the Life of a Nobody blog because they are both personal.
  • sportobsession6 – This account goes with My Sports Obsession blog as well as My Sports Obsession Tumblr account.  The first account had a bunch of followers that I’m having trouble getting them to switch to this account so as many as my fellow sports bloggers that followed me, very few actually read me.
  • dailyjlaws13 – I don’t expect any followers on this blog.  You know those annoying people who tweet everything.  This is that kind of twitter.  I tweet some songs I listen to on Spotify, what I’m watching with GetGlue, what and where I’m at when reading with Goodreads.  And most days I tweet how many songs I’ve listened to and how many blog posts I’ve read on my Google Reader.  Don’t ask me why, I don’t really know.  I like keeping track of everything.  Again, don’t ask me why, I don’t know.

I also created some basic backgrounds for the first 2 twitter accounts that listed my blog and twitter addresses on it.  For someone who doesn’t care how many followers I sure try to put my stuff out there.  It’s nice to know some one is reading I guess.

My daughter is moving back home today.  She attempted to get out of her housing contract at school so she could get her own apartment.  Well, she got out of it, but since it’s the end of the semester, they told her she had to move out by today.  They told her this yesterday.  So we went out last night, picked up all her stuff and rented a storage unit for it and dropped it off.  And today, after work she’ll come back home.  It sucks, because she’s your typical teenage girl.  Moody, everything’s about her and nobody else matters, she stays up late which in turn, tends to wake us up.  She doesn’t clean up after herself and expects her mom to do it.  And even with all that crap, I’m ok with her moving back in because I can’t have her living on the street.

The bad part is the 2 youngest have to share a room again.  That sucks for them and it sucks for us.  For the most part they get a long great, but when Skyler moved out, there were so ready to have their own rooms to do their own stuff.  Now I’m sure they will start getting on each other’s nerves again.  If it works out the way Skyler thinks it will, she will be gone before the end of January.  My prediction, she will probably be here at least till April but I wouldn’t be surprised if it wasn’t until summer when she moves out.

What pissed me off last night was, we grab my mom’s van and are on our way out to her place to get her stuff.  She calls and says she’s running to get something to eat.  We were already half way there.  Now she could have ran to McDonalds or Arby’s which are pretty much next door and been back about the time we got there.  But not Skyler, it doesn’t matter that we are taking time to help her, she drives all the way to Steak ‘n Shake to get food and we end up waiting at her place for 20 minutes for her to come home.  Remember where I said she doesn’t think of anyone else, case and point.

So neither my wife or I are happy with the arrangement but what can you do.  She leaves on Tuesday to spend a week in Virginia so she’ll only be here for a few days before she leaves again.  I only hope she grows up and gets her head out of her ass before she’s in her 30’s, it took me that long, I hope she’s smarter than I was.  Who knows, I may have not completely removed my head from my ass yet.

I found this looking at some Everlast for my playlists.  I didn’t realize the guy from Everlast was the guy from House of Pain.  I used to love this song.

What’s your problem?

I was reminded of a story that happened at work the other day.  I was reminded the other day, it happened awhile ago.  My foreman told me to go up on the line and clean off the parts, if I couldn’t get one of the operators to help me, then let him know and he would help.  Sounds easy enough.

So I go up and ask all 3 operators and nobody wanted to help, which didn’t surprise me because the other shift had left the parts so we all were refusing to clean them up.  That is until my foreman told me I had to.  They were in Paul’s section and he was the line leader so when I got back downstairs and told the boss that I needed his help he asked me questions.

Foreman - “Nobody would help you?”

Me - “Nope, they were all too busy”

Foreman - “What about Paul?

I just shrugged my shoulders.

Foreman - “What did he say?”

Me - “Good luck with that”

So we go upstairs and are taking the parts off when the boss get’s into Paul for not helping.  Paul denies ever saying that to me, says he told me to wait a minute and he would help.

Foreman (looking at me) “What was Paul doing when you asked him?”

Me – “Reading the newspaper”

He just looks at Paul and shakes his head and we continue to take the parts out.  Now a little while later, I’m downstairs loading a shuttle up, Paul walks towards me and puts his finger about an inch from my face and says “You’re a big, fat, fucking liar” and he started walking away.  I was kind of shocked, I didn’t lie, he was lying just to save face.  I didn’t run down and tell on him, all I did was answer the bosses questions.  As far as I was concerned, I didn’t do anything wrong.  The stupid part is he wasn’t going to get in trouble, he had his head so far up management ass that they probably sat around and laughed about it next time they went out.

As he was walking away and I let everything that he said sink in, I yelled at him “PAUL”.  He turns around, and I question him “Are you mad at something?”  He, went, off.  Started cussing up and down and before he turned to walk away again he said “That’s why your wife left you”.  I’ll be honest, I was laughing the whole time he was yelling, I couldn’t help it, it was funny.

Our relationship hasn’t been the same since.  We never were great friends, but we got along.  We use to go to White Sox games together, we played softball for years together.  He’s the kind of guy you get along with outside of work, but is a pain in the ass to work with.  If you ask him about what he said now, he says he never said any of it.  Guess he’s still in denial.  And he’s a foreman now, told you nothing would happen to him.

There is nothing better than remaining calm while someone is yelling at you, it pisses them off more than you yelling back.  You should try it, it’s fun.

Track – Father

Artist – AVB (Acapella Vocal Band)

For those that don’t know, I lost my father when I was 8 to cancer.  Songs about Father’s always kind of hit me.  The bad part was listening to christian music, there were a lot of songs about the Father, and I would just take some of the lyrics and make it about me not having a father.  Here’s the lyrics from this song.

A little girl, she seems grown-up, who's only four
She's so confused without a father anymore
And if you listen as she's on her knees to pray
Each night so preciously her broken heart will say:

Chorus:
Where is my father? Has he gone away?
Why can't he always be here to stay?
Where is my father? Does he still care?
I need a father who's always there

He left their family and he headed for the coast
He left a time when they needed him the most
The emptiness is even worse than if he'd died
Caught in confusion you can hear this young girl cry

Repeat Chorus

He's never coming back, she wished that he would
It hurt's cause he doesn't care
But she has another, a Father who's good
A Father who will always be there
You are my Father; never go away
I know you'll always be here to stay
You are my Father; I know you care
I need a Father who's always there
You are my Father who's always there

Obviously, these lyrics didn’t really match my life but I liked the chorus and it sang to me.
