Eating Stats

I know, I'm never here anymore but I figured I should at least give you a stats post as I have most every other year. I would love to tell you that I'm going to use this blog more but I say that every year and it doesn't happen. I did make it to February last year before quitting. Sadly, that was my last post of the year. I truly just don't have much to say, I lead a pretty boring life of working and sitting in front of the TV.

I'm actually think about breaking these stats posts to multiple posts and do 1 stat a post since I've been keeping stats for awhile now and can probably make a whole post of each one since I have a bunch of years to talk about now but I don't know if that's what I'll do.

Today, I'm going to knock out restaurant stats for me.

1 time - 35th Street Red Hots, Applebees, Buffalo Wild Wings, CBP Smoke Barbque, Chick-Fil-A, Coney Express, Costco, Cristo's, Dog LB, Dominos, El Trejo, Gerace's Pizza, Hacienda, Hungry Howies, Italian Village, Krispy Kream, Mandarin Kitchen, Margaritas Mexican, Pizza Hut, Roma's Pizza & Wings ect.

2 times - 7-Eleven, Happy's Kountry Kitchen, IHOP, Jimmie Johns, Party on the Patio, Portillo's, Puerta Vallarta, Red Lobster, Smith's Food Mart & Subway,

3 times - Arby's, Bravo Cafe & Mandarin House

4 times - Martin's Deli & Trinity UM

5 times - Brunos, Dairy Queen, Firehouse Subs & Long John Silvers

6 times - 5 Guys, Chili's & Dunkin

7 times - Copper Creek Cafe

8 times - Barnaby's & Little Caesar's

That's everything in the single digits, now we get to the double digits. and a countdown to the most.

#7 -  (10 times) Last Year - 8th place (8 times). This year was the highest since tracking began in 2013.

#6 -  (13 times) Last Year - 7th place (11 times). This year tied the high with 2020 since tracking began in 2013.

#5 -  (17 times) Last Year - 4th place (22 times). Last year was the high since tracking began in 2013.

#4 -  (19 times) Last Year - 3rd place (25 times). The high was 28 times in 2021 since tracking began in 2013.

#3 -  (25 times) Last Year - 6th place (15 times). Last year was the highest since tracking began in 2013.

#2 -  (35 times) Last Year - 2nd place (26 times). 2013 was the highest at 68 times since tracking began in 2013.

#1 -  (52 times) Last Year - 1st place (50 times). 2014 was the highest at 54 times since tracking began in 2013.

We ate out quite a bit at the beginning of the year but it got cut back quite a bit the last few months due to my hours being tighter at work. These are also my stats as if they were my wife's, Burger King would be lower because I ate breakfast there a bunch at work and Sonic would be higher because she grabs lunch there a lot after doctor's appointments.

2020 Stats

Another year has passed. My immediate family came through it fairly unscathed but I had plenty of family members who ended up with Covid and even a cousin's kid who was a step away from being put on a ventilator, he's only 23, before he recovered.

One thing that hasn't changed, is that I kept record, or stats of a lot of what I did. I've been doing it awhile as you can tell here.

2013   -   2014   -   2016   -   2017   -   2018   -   2019

While I kept stats in 2015, I didn't do a post, therefore, no link. We moved into our new home this week in 2015 so I was a little preoccupied.

So here we go.
As always, we'll start off with where I ate for the year.

1 Time - 7-Eleven, A&W, Between the Buns, Chili's, DAV, the Golden Egg, Hacienda, Macadoo's, Nelson's Port a Pit, Olive Garden, Panda Express, Panera, Papa John's, Red Robin, Smith's Food Mart, Texas Roadhouse and Walmart Deli.

Lots of places in there, a couple of mini marts (7-Eleven has a great hot dogs and Smith's has great pizza puffs). I love Hacienda but the wife doesn't like it so I don't get it often. Most of it is more expensive than we normally spend (Chili's, Olive Garden, Red Robin and Texas Roadhouse) or it's something I got at work (Nelson's, Papa John's and Walmart Deli.)

2 Times - Dunkin' Donuts, Flippin' Cow, Long John Silver's, Simonton Lake Drive-In and Wing Ect.

Dunkin' Donuts was at work. Flippin' Cow is the best burger joint but it gets expensive so we don't get it much.

3 Times - Cracker Barrel and Jade Garden.

Love Cracker Barrel but again, wife isn't a huge fan of their chairs because they kill her back. Jade Garden is where we do Chinese food take out.

4 Times - Gerace's Pizza and Martin's Deli.

Gerace's is the expensive pizza they get us at work when they are really generous and Martin's Deli is the local grocery store but the Deli has the best fried chicken.

5 Times - Copper Creek Cafe and Mancino's.

Copper Creek Cafe is our go to breakfast place now that we just found this year. Mancino's we grab grinder's.

7 Times - Arby's, Chick-Fil-A, Jimmy John's and Nedderman's Steak Place.

These are all fairly regulars even though 7 times doesn't seem like it. Nedderman's we just discovered at the end of last year so it really jumped up this year.

8 Times - 5 Guys and KFC.

I've always loved 5 Guys but my wife didn't like going all the way to the mall to get it but in the last few months she's been craving it so we've gotten it a lot which is great for me. KFC we don't do for chicken, Martin's Deli is better, but we do love their famous bowls.

9 Times - Culver's.

We love their fries so we go here fairly often, we normally eat there most of the time but we have stopped just for fries once or twice.

Now for the double digit restaurants. Normally we have 5 or 6 but this year, we had 10 with over 10 times eating there. Of course, 5 of those were at the minimum times.

10 Times - Burger King, Dairy Queen, Domino's, Little Ceasars and Wendy's.

Burger King is our go to for fast food burgers. Dairy Queen my son works there now so we'll grab it dropping him off. Domino's is what we prefer for fast food pizza and it just became local. Little Ceasar's was our go to fast food pizza before Domino's came in plus we get it at work every so often. It'll drop a bunch next year. Wendy's we'll do because of the 4 for $4 to feed the kids.

13 Times - Bruno's (last year - 17 times) and Sonic (last year - 4 times) and Steak 'n Shake (last year - 4 times.)

Our go to "real" pizza place is Bruno's. This has slowed down because my wife loves Domino's crust but I still encourage this place even though it's way more expensive.

My wife loves Sonic, I think it's more the loaded tator tots but she's the one that always suggest this. I usually get a Philly Steak N Cheese just because it's one of the few places I can get one.

We usually go here after Sonic just to get Shake's. We used to really like their burgers but when we would go in, the places were always dirty so we just do shake's now.

35 Times - McDonalds (last year - 42 times).

We really don't like most of their food but my wife like's their breakfast when we need something quick and I like the McRib's when they are in which they have been in December. We'll occasionally grab it for a Fish sandwich but that's about it.

48 Times - Taco Bell (last year - 46)
This used to be our favorite fast food but no so much anymore. They've removed the majority of what I like off the menu so I find it harder to find something I really want. What my wife likes you have to order on the app (which we usually use) but the one thing I still like isn't on the app so I usually have to place two orders and they always want to give me one and I have to tell them the next one is mine too. I do love their breakfast still and I get the twice a month when I have to drive over to the other plant to pick up samples but I expect them to lose their reining (last 2 years) spot on this list next year. I haven't added much to it in the last few months since they changed the menu.

These are the totals since I started keeping track. We're up this year because my son started working so I drive him to Dairy Queen and that just leaves the wife and I so I'll just grab something while I'm out.

Next up is my reading. Goodreads always asks you to set goals and I had set 25 books. I generally only read on my breaks at work so I probably would have hit the 25, but I had a month off because of Covid and then I had 2 weeks off for a surgery so my numbers were down.

Last year was my lowest since I started keeping track. Although if you count my pages, I read more than 3 other years listed above. I stuck to the same stuff the whole year though, here it is by authors.

Jim Butcher - 8 books
Stephen King - 6 books
Dean Koontz - 2 books
Kim Harriston - 1 book

Jim Butcher, I was reading the Dresden Files and Kim Harrison released another book in the Hollows series. Stephen King and Dean Koontz are just 2 of my favorite authors so they are my go to when I'm looking for something to read.

You can follow the books I read on Goodreads.

Next up, movies. I do track the TV shows I watch as well but I watch a ton so I'm not going to show that here.

Our movie viewing was down and as you can tell, DVD's have disappeared again and with the shutting down of theaters, I only saw 1 there. Streaming, we have access to Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu and Peacock. TV, we have access to Xfinity on demand which we rarely use because we've usually seen most everything on there.

You can follow the movies I watch on Letterboxd.
Sports viewing was definitely down as well because of Covid. Baseball had a really shortened season and to be honest, Michigan football was so bad this year they were hard to watch.

I still got my baseball viewing in because before the season started, they were playing games from 2005 and I watched every game they played. Basketball is down because of the delayed start to college and I don't watch the NBA games anymore. Same with football, don't watch any NFL either. The lone hockey game was last year around this time at Notre Dame when Michigan was in town.
I started off on a blistering pace that was going to blow my previous numbers out of the water, then Covid hit.

At the start of the year, I was the team lead of my department so I was getting over 10,000 steps a day for the first couple of months. I was almost at 90 days of 10,000 steps or more after only a quarter into the year. After I came back from Covid, my job changed because they brought less people back and I was the only one who could do a certain job so I did that and my steps went way down. I still set a record for most days with over 10,000 steps but as you can tell by the less steps and miles overall, I had a lot more days with very little steps. Again, the month off with Covid as well as the 2 weeks off with surgery didn't help that any.

I keep track of the mileage of all our cars but that might change this year because Drivewise with Allstate is changing from tracking the car to tracking on your phone and that will be a lot less accurate.

The Equinox is my car. You can see I knocked 10,000 miles off mine from last year. I changed my route to and from work. I used to take back roads where I could fly but now I drive through town with traffic. They take about the same amount of time but it makes it a 40 mile round trip compared to a 56 mile round trip. The Gallant was my old car that I let my daughter have that she killed by not putting oil in it so it's gone now. The Impala is the car she's driving now. She's a teenager so she's pounding the miles on it. It had quite a bit of miles on it when we bought it so I doubt at the rate she's going that it will last longer than she's making payments. The Outlander is my wife's car, as you can see, she doesn't go to too many places. I just gave her car her annual oil change.
Now for the drink portion.

You can see where the Coke and Mountain Dew are down. That's because I quit buying it for home so the only time I drink pop/soda is when we go out to eat. I didn't do that until the last couple of months of the year so that's why there are still a couple of hundred. Water should go up as well since that is all I drink at home now.

Last.fm is where I track my music. I listened to 37,946 tracks in 2020 and 1,397 different artist. I made it a point at the end of the year to listen to music I haven't heard before so I get more artists. I've added some of them to my playlists.

Here's my top 10 artists listened too.

There's a lot more music this year because of the job change, I can listen to it more often. My work playlist is pretty much all Rock and Country which is why you see the artists above.

You can follow my main playlist on Spotify or follow the music as I listen to it on LastFM.

That's all I got for you today, if that wasn't enough. I always enjoy these posts because I like the stats. There are a few other things I track but nothing anybody would be interested in.

2019 Stats

Woo Hoo, my favorite post of the year. I realize most of you could care less about this one, but I love stats, I love the end of the year because it brings all my stats to a close as well as starts a new year of them.

Firsts things first, here's the previous years post, minus 2015 because we just moved into our house and I was a little busy.

We'll start off with restaurants I've eaten at this year.

  • 1 Time - 5 Guys Burger & Fries, 7-11, Cracker Barrel, Domino's Pizza, Dutch Essenhaus, Gerace's Pizza, Hotbox Pizza, IHOP, Johnny Carino's, Kobe's, Mango Mango's, Meehan's Irish Pub, Mojo's BBQ, O'malleys, Pizza Hut, Rise 'n Roll, Simonton Lake Drive-In, Smith's Food Mart, Sonny's BBQ.
I love 5 Guys and this is the 2nd year in a row that I only went there once, I need to remedy that. The majority of those are from Florida and Virginia while I traveled.
  • 2 Times - Between the Buns, Bojangles, Buffalo Wild Wings, Culver's, Fazoli's, Flippin' Cow, Little Ceaser's Pizza, Long John Silvers, Nedderman's Steak Place, Rally's, Red Lobster, Volcanos Pizza, Waffle House.
A couple more pizza places in there. Flippin' Cow needs to be way more, that place is the bomb.
  • 3 Times - Dunkin' Donuts, Hardee's, Walmart Deli, Wendy's
Dunkin' Donuts gets brought into work occasionally, Hardee's was traveling as we just recently got a local one. Walmart Deli is also brought into work. We have Wendy's around here, but the closest one was tore down and is being rebuilt.
  • 4 Times - Chick-Fil-A, Pal's, Sonic Drive In, Steak 'n Shake
We love Chick-Fil-A as well but none are all that close so we hit it when we are in the area. Pal's is a place where my wife lived for 20 years so we go there when we are in town. We've been hitting Sonic more lately and while we love Steak 'n Shake, the insides are filthy and the service sucks so we hit the drive-thru occasionally.
  • 5 Times - Ben's Pretzels, Dairy Queen, Jade Garden, KFC, Martin's Deli, Subway
Jade Garden is the local chinese place we get take out from and Martin's Deli is the local grocery store but they have the best fried chicken.
  • 6 Times - Mancino's
They have the best grinders and garlic bread.

Next up is my top 6, all of these made double digits.

  • 10 Times - Jimmy John's
We still love their sandwich's but the number of times we eat here has declined the last 3 years but it's still in the same spot on the countdown as last year, 6th place.

  • 11 Times - Arby's & Burger King
Arby's is one of the closest fast food places and I love their mozzarella sticks, also the greek gyro. Burger King is up here because if we are getting fast food burgers, this is where we go. Both are also down from last years numbers. Burger King was 3rd most last year and Arby's was 4th.

  • 17 Times - Bruno's Pizza
This is still our go to Pizza place, especially since they deliver. Last year it was tied with Arby's for 4th most so it's moved up to 3rd most and we ate there 3 more times this year.

  • 42 Times - McDonalds
Finally got knocked out of being where I go to most. It annoys me that it stays up this high because I really can't stand most of McDonalds food. The only things I eat there are McMuffin's, Filet-O-Fish and McRibs. I stop here twice a month when I have to go to the other plant for work and I get some quick breakfast. Then twice a year, they have McRib's for a month at a time and I stop a bunch. The fish I get when we stop because there are no other options to stop.
  • 46 Times - Taco Bell
Finally, my favorite fast food overthrows freaking McDonalds. It is also the closest fast food place to us so that helps as well. Although they just shrunk down their menu and took a few things off that I liked.

Those are our totals from eating out the last 7 years, I didn't mean to screen cap 2020 in there. Those 3 are all from coming home from Florida yesterday. We brought it down some from the previous year but we still do eat out more than we should. My daughter is usually working and if my son isn't home, it ends up being the 2 of us and it's just easier to get something.
Next up, my reading. I had scheduled myself to read 25 books in the Goodreads challenge. I failed as I only read 21. I only read on my breaks at work so about 40 minutes a work day.

I did read more books this year than last so at least it went up. You can follow the books I read on Goodreads.

The following is how many movies I've watched and how I watch it. This includes movies I've already seen.

After 2 years of not renting any DVD's, we broke out the DVD player and started watching them again. The DVD player is still out, but we haven't rented any in awhile. Streaming is done on Netflix, Prime and Hulu. The theater movies were Captain Marvel, Pet Sematary, Avenger's Endgame, Spiderman: Far From Home and Zombieland: Double Tap. You can follow along with the movies I watch on Letterbox.

I watched 145 sporting events this year. Either live or on TV.

Baseball was higher this year because with Michigan making the college World Series, they put a lot more of their games on TV. Hopefully they'll carry over that this year and play more on TV. The rest of the baseball were White Sox games. The basketball is a combination of the women and men Michigan games. Football is Michigan as well as the hockey and softball.
Last year I used my phone to track my steps but this past Christmas, I got a newer fitbit so I'll be using it from here on out.

I didn't track my steps for the first 3 years, then I got a Fitbit in 2016. I've steadily increased each year. This past year, while I didn't walk a whole lot more, I had a lot more days over 10,000 steps. The majority of those were probably work days.

I used to keep track of my miles, but now I track the miles of all 3 vehicles in the household. It's relatively easy to do because my insurance company does it for me, all I have to do is transfer the amount over to my spreadsheet.

I didn't keep stats the first 3 years listed and I didn't buy the Equinox until 2018 and the Impala for my daughter last year. The Gallant was my car until I bought the Equinox, then I gave it to my daughter who was starting to drive. It broke down and she shared my wife's Outlander until I bought her the Impala.

I never realize how little variety I had in the drinks I drink until I started logging it.

In the 3 years that I've kept track of this, I've only had 15 different drinks. Only 5 or 6 of those I drink with consistency, all the other are occasional, some as little as once in the 3 years. I drink a Coke with supper at home as well as most restaurants. The Gatorade/Powerade I drink to and from work. Mountain Dew for lunch at work. Orange Juice during 1st break at work and water most every other time. I drink it at work and at home.

I also keep track of the music I listen to. I used to do it manually but now I have a website that tracks it and it is so much easier. I just wish I could plug in everything that I tracked manually because I just joined the site this past October so that's all I have on there. I will show you my top 10 artists and how many songs I listen to this past year.

Taylor Swift is number one because I get stuck listening to her when my wife is in the car. I do like her stuff and have a ton of tracks on my playlist but she isn't the top artist I would listen to. I could probably name 20 or so artists I like before her, if not more. Petra, DC Talk and Michael W. Smith are all Christian artists and I have a ton of their songs on my playlists so it's more a matter of how many songs I have.

You can check out my playlists on Spotify or follow exactly what I am listening to on Last.FM.

I guess that's about all I got for you. I loved this post, I'm sure most of you don't. I should be back to regularly scheduled stuff now that I'm back from Florida.
