* the “genres” listed are my own timeline of music which you’ll find here. (My genres are classic, 80’s, Christian, hip hop/rap/90’s, rock/alternative, Virginia song, before spotify and spotify.
**Any pictures of album covers denotes that I owned it at one time in my life.
DC Talk – As you can tell, I’m a pretty decent DC Talk fan. I have most of their songs from the albums I owned on my playlist. I’ve also seen them in concert a lot, and by a lot, I mean probably around double digits. They started out as a Christian rap group and I liked them but as they progressed in their career and added more singing with a mix of rap, I liked them much more.
That’s pretty much all of their albums but one but the one has a bunch of their solo stuff and not as a group.
DeGarmo & Key – This Christian rock group I’ve seen in concert multiple times as well.
DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince – The Fresh Prince would be Will Smith for all you young ‘ens.
In this section, I’ll figure out my favorites from this post and maybe some other stuff.
- Best Artist – DC Talk
- Best Song – Pour Some Sugar On Me (Def Leppard)
- Most Songs – DC Talk (34)
- Shortest Song – Alpha’s Theme song (:33)
- Longest Song – Riders on the Storm (7:07)
- Artists seen in concert – DC Talk, DeGarmo & Key (6 total)
- Total songs in this post - 96
- Total songs posted so far - 538
Some great D artists on your list! Duran Duran, David Lee Roth, DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince, Dean Martin. All on my person favorites list. Might add the Dead Milkmen and the Dead Kennedys. Possibly Devo. Whip It is a pop culture standard.
ReplyDeleteGreat post!!
I'm going to have to do a post about all the music I've added since doing the A to Z Challenge. How did I not have Whip It?
DeleteI only had two D's today.....Dean Martin and Dolly Parton. Islands in the Stream on of my favorite duos with Kenny Rogers (one of my favorite singers)
ReplyDeleteMy kids love when Dean Martin comes on, not! Islands in the Stream is one of those that you have to sing along with.
DeleteSo glad you included Dean Martin, but his version of Sway hands down beats every other version!
ReplyDeleteI went and listened to it, I can't say that I've ever heard that song but I didn't exactly get the chance to listen to him much before Spotify.
DeleteOnly 2 Def Leppard???? Just kidding. They've been my guys since Pyromania (has it really been 25+ years?? gasp!)
ReplyDeleteWhen I set up the playlist originally, I just added the songs that I recognized the title. I just went through their top 10 on Spotify and added a few more that I knew, just didn't know the title. Thanks for the kick in the ass to get me straightened out. Lol
DeleteMy fave list so far! Also, Duran Duran was one of my favorite music groups when I was in junior high, and part of high school. Love them! :)
ReplyDeleteRandom Musings from the KristenHead — D is for 'Defiance' (and Dogs)
Hungry like a Wolf is one of my 80's favorites.
