I’ve been on a big Star Trek kick as of late. The SyFy channel has been playing them all week but out of order, not sure why. I recorded them and for the most part have watched them in order. I recorded the first one (The Motion Picture, 1979) and the fourth one (The Voyage Home, 1986) last weekend, not realizing they were going to do a marathon the next weekend. But I watched those 2 during this past week, and then sat down and watched a bunch on Christmas Eve (The Wrath of Khan (1982), The Search For Spock (1984), The Final Frontier (1989), The Undiscovered Country (1991) and Generations (1994). I’m currently watching First Contact (1996) and still have Insurrection (1998) on the DVR. I’m going to have to find Nemesis (2002) somewhere else apparently.
I wasn’t sure when they released the new Star Trek (2009) on how well I liked the idea they were re-releasing it. But after seeing it, I was impressed. I liked it. And now they are getting ready to release the 2nd of the new series, Into the Darkness (2013) and I’m pumped. I may even take my cheap ass to the theaters to see it. I know most of you knew I was into Star Wars, but I’m really a Trekkie before that. The problem I had before, was I never got into all the subseries on TV. I loved the original Star Trek from the late 1960’s and 1970’s. I’ve even contemplated going back on Netflix and watching all of them. My wife will love that. For those that don’t know, the last few movies involve the cast & crew of the TV series The Next Generation. I never hated the other TV series, but I never got into them. Now that I’m watching the movies over again, I may have to go back and watch whatever series are on Netflix. I’ve ignored the itch for far too long, thanks to the SyFy channel, my love for Star Trek is back, I should have known to ignore it, after all, resistance is futile.
Mrs. C and I are Trekkies also. Live long and prosper this Holiday Season.
