Jelly Beans

I should be blogging more.  I have stuff to say, about a big change in my life but I can’t until it has officially began so maybe the fact that I can’t really say anything is the reason I haven’t felt like blogging at all.  I have other things to talk about and I should talk about them but when I have this huge change over my head, that I want to talk about, and I can’t, it kind of takes the air out of everything else.  As of late, the whole change has been frustrating because I thought it would have happened already and it hasn’t but I guess you’ll have to wait until it happens before you get to read about it.  So let’s blog about something else.

Get it?  Segway into something different?  Never mind.

What the hell is up with freaking Jelly Beans?  It’s coming towards spring, and Easter is right around the corner, and this time of the year, I get to buy Jelly Beans.  I love Jelly Beans.  So while we were at Wally World (Walmart) the other day, I saw the Easter stuff out and thought to myself, Jelly Beans.  So I hit the Easter aisle in the grocery section with my mouth watering for Jelly Beans, original, Brach’s Jelly Beans (except the black ones, no one likes those).

Here’s what I see.

What the Sam Hell is going on, where the hell are the regular Jelly Beans?  I JUST WANT REGULAR JELLY BEANS, DAMN IT!!!!

Then Cheri told me maybe they were up in the holiday section up front.  So I calmed down and we headed up front.  After seeing more of the above, I finally see it.  There is a light shining on it from above, then it goes darker, then lighter.  Stupid Walmart and their energy efficient lighting.  I walk over to the Jelly Beans, I think I might have started to drool a little bit.  Then I saw it.

AWWWW!  ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?  SPECKLED?  WHAT THE HELL IS SPECKLED JELLY BEANS?  I JUST WANT SOME DAMN JELLY BEANS I screamed (in my head, because I’m not the usual PJ and slipper wearing Walmartian.)

They seriously had no Classic Jelly Beans, none.  I didn’t even see a place for them.  My heart is breaking, I had to go home and stick to my candy hearts I bought on sale after Valentines day.  Stupid Walmart.

I’M TRYING TO DAMN IT!!!!

Stats

Another month down, it’s March 1st.  For those of you who were around at the beginning of the year, you know how much I love stats and that I keep track of certain things throughout the year.  Last year I kept these stats

  • How many times I ate out.
  • Where I ate out at.
  • Books I’ve read.
  • Totals pages in the books I’ve read.
  • How many blog posts on each blog.
  • How many words on this blog.

When I posted by Year in Review, I had a blast figuring it all out so I started to think of other things to keep track of.  So now I keep a bunch of stats and on the 1st, I update the Google Doc.  Actually, I updated it just after midnight (this morning) and I thought, I could do one of those posts every month.  Don’t worry, I won’t.  I have to bore you once a year with the Year in Review, I don’t need to do it monthly.  I did decide that I would tell you everything that I’m keeping track of now though.

  • How many times I eat out.
  • Where I eat out at.
  • How many times I eat at home
  • How many times I eat at other peoples houses.
  • Books I’m reading.
  • Totals pages in the books I’m reading
  • How many blog posts on each blog, including Tumblrs.
  • How many words on this blog.
  • How many emails I read on my Yahoo, Gmail and AOL (yes, I still use it.)
  • How many status’, personal photos and other posts on my personal Facebook.
  • How many posts on Instagram.
  • How many incoming and outgoing minutes I use on my phone.
  • How many things I pin on Pinterest.
  • How many texts I read and send, divided into personal and alerts.
  • How many tweets I send out on all 3 Twitter accounts.
  • How many times I get retweeted and favorited on all 3 Twitter accounts.
  • How many tracks I listened to on Spotify.
  • How many new movies (to me) I watch, divided into DVD’s, on TV and at the theaters.
  • How many full sporting events I watch, live or on TV.  So far baseball, basketball, football and hockey.
  • How many cards and how much I paid for them off of Ebay.
  • Starting today, I’ll be keeping track of public places I go (via Foursquare).

I know what you’re thinking, why in the hell is he keeping all that?  Because I can and I apparently have nothing better to do.  I keep it all on a Google Doc and I update some daily, others I update on 1st of the month.

  • Daily – Eating in and out.  Emails read.  Tracks on Spotify.  Movies and Sports.  Ebay purchases.  I’ll probably do the public places stuff daily as well.
  • Monthly – All the blog stuff.  Facebook.  Instagram.  Phone stuff (texts and calls).  Pinterest.  Twitter stuff.
  • Whenever I get around to it – Words on this blog.

I grab the monthly stats usually for the blogs themselves or I keep track of my total posts and subtract what it was last month to give me this months.  The keeping track of words all I do is load up past blog posts on my Windows Live Writer (where I type out each blog) and it has a word count at the bottom.  I know it sounds like a lot of work, but it really isn’t.  I spent less than an hour last night counting up all the monthly stuff.

I know none of this is all that exciting but there it is.  Wouldn’t you like to know some of this stuff at the end of the year?  Is there anything else I should keep track of?

Randomness #22

One thing I have come to find out, is that on the weeks when I work Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, I rarely come up with new content for this blog.  I do get online on my 2 days off, but I’m usually in a blah mood and all I do is go through my Feedly (which I am way behind on).  Even my Tumblr blogs were neglected, except My Sports Obsession Tumblr because I had enough queued up to cover the week.  Now if you pay enough attention, you’ll notice I posted here on Monday and Tuesday but that would be because I had already typed them up the week before.  Maybe on my shorts weeks I should create enough to last me through next week as well but I don’t see that happening.

2 weeks ago, my wife noticed that my left ankle was swollen and after pressing on it and questioning me about pain, we thought maybe I was retaining some water.  A couple of days later, I was at work and a friend noticed that the left side of my face was swollen as well.  So I asked a couple of people and they all pointed out my left side so I sent a text to Cheri and she set me up with an appointment on Friday with our doctor.  The next day while I was at the doctor’s office, Cheri noticed that my left hand was swollen as well.  After talking with the doc, he set me up on a water pill for the next 10 days and scheduled me for an ultrasound and blood work.  The blood work was just to check organ functions and the ultrasound was to check my leg for a blood clot because I have a couple of relatives who get them all the time.  All of them were negative but let me tell you about those damn water pills.  The first day I took them, Samantha had a basketball tournament where she played at 9am and 10am and depending on their record, possibly at 11am.  So I pop the pill and we head to the gym, we get to the gym and I go pee.  Sam’s games are only 7 minute quarters and through that first game, I had to pee after every quarter.  It did finally taper off but I got rid of a lot of water that first day.  I actually took my last one today so I guess we’ll see if it comes back in the coming week.

(that’s not Trevor)

Last weekend, I get a text from theEx that says they took Trevor to Great Clips and they screwed up his hair, again.  Why they insist on taking him to get his hair cut is beyond me.  Cheri used to do hair for a living, she did it for years and she always takes care of the kids hair.  Our oldest daughter, who will be 19 in a couple of months, still comes home to have her mom cut her hair and brings friends and her boyfriend home to get hair cuts.  She still cuts Samantha’s hair but for some stupid reason, when they take the JackAss to get his hair cut, they cut Trevor’s hair.  He has a basic boys cut and yet, they’ve screwed it up twice now.  This time, he has very little hair left, he’s damn near bald.  What annoys me is she’ll pay for a haircut but not buy the kids clothes that fit.

For those that don’t know, I switched cell phone services.  Our contract was up at Verizon and we switched over to AT&T.  While I believe Verizon has the best service, it’s way too expensive with all the no contract plans out there.  We were going with a $40-50/month prepay service and then I saw the new commercial where you get up to 4 lines, unlimited talk and text and 10 GB to share for $160/month.  We only have 3 phones so it’s $145/month but we can add a 4th line for another $15.  Obviously, the unlimited talk and text is great, and the 10 GB is plenty.  Cheri and I use about 1.5 GB and Skyler will use between 4 and 5 GB’s so like I said, we have plenty.  The service isn’t nearly as good as Verizon’s was.  I struggle to get text’s in and out at work where with Verizon, that wasn’t an issue.  Both networks sucked as far as using data at work so no difference there.  Outside of work I haven’t had many issues but I have with one and I’m curious if other AT&T customers have this problem.  Cheri has called me multiple times at it doesn’t even show that she called on my phone.  I’m sitting at home, where I have service so it shouldn’t be a service issue.  Does anybody else have this problem?  With all the money we are saving (about $100/month) it’s not enough issues to make me upset.  Nobody really calls me anyways, it’s even rare for Cheri to call me because either I’m at work or we are together.
