I exercised, really, I did

I woke up this morning and my eyes were still tired so I laid in bed for an hour with them shut and just contemplated life. I decided that I need to get my fat ass out and do something instead of sitting all weekend in my recliner. So I got up, popped my contacts in and went for a walk. No special route, just went next door and went around the outside of the parking lot at Walmart. I set my Samsung health tracker thingy on my phone to monitor myself.

One of the reasons I wanted to walk is because I joined a softball team again, although with all the rain, we've had 4 now (I think) get cancelled and I missed 2 because I was out of town on July 4th weekend. The 2 games I did play, I pulled up lame in both of them with my hamstring hurting. I finished both games but it hurt. The last one I really hurt it and I had trouble pitching the last inning. So as you can see, I definitely needed to get into shape. My last game is on Thursday and then that Saturday we have a single elimination tournament, so I could end up playing multiple games. It might be to little, to late, for me to start now but it's not like I can't use the exercise.

There's my map, the flag is  actually my apartment. It only lists 2 laps but I did 3 so I'm not sure if it didn't count one or one is just on top of the other. So I don't know how accurate this is. I plan on going out after work tomorrow and if I do, I think I'm going to go through the neighborhood across the street and I'll be able to tell how accurate it is, at least with my route.

I took these with snapchat because I knew they had these filters. It was a balmy 76 degrees out and sunny and it said my pace was 3.4 mph. Now to look at my final stats.

Technically, I didn't set up a target distance and I got all those trophies because it was the first time I had used the app, so don't think I'm that special. It says I went 2.07 miles in 38 minutes and my pace was 2.3/mph. Doesn't seem that impressive to me so I'm really hoping for some reason it didn't count a lap. That app also has a step counter and it says I only went a little over 4000 steps so I'm thinking it sucks at keeping track. I would think I would have gone more steps than that.

Now let's see if I can actually keep it up.

A spring Saturday

We started off this morning by heading out to the ballpark to watch Samantha play her 2nd game this season. She's their starting 3rd basemen and lead-off hitter this year. Earlier in the week, she went 2-3 with 2 walks in a 10-6 loss so we were hoping for their first win this weekend. Although, we didn't really expect it because the team we were playing has spanked us for years and that was obvious when they came out with 13 runs in the first inning. After that, they tacked on another 10 runs in the next 3 innings even though they sent their girls up to the plate to practice bunting and some of them even worked on hitting from the other side of the plate. We were completely shut out until the bottom of the 4th when we finally got a run in. Samantha was 1-2 with a hit by pitch. She got popped right in the center of her back in the first inning, she took it well. She didn't even cry although she said she was close to it. So now we're 0-2 on the year, which isn't to hot but it is nice to watch her playing ball again.

After the game, we went home for a quick lunch before heading out to see the new Avengers movie. It was pretty awesome but I think my favorite is still the last Captain America movie. These comic book movies have become our family tradition with me and the kids. We've been going to them all together. We always ask their grandfather to go with us because he likes the comic book movies as well. This time my mom went as well.

After that, I had them drop us off at Walmart so we could pick up some Mother's Day items. We were grabbing some cards and were planning on picking up a gift for Cheri but she was to hard headed to give us any ideas. Anyways, I went to look for some cards and this is what I see.

That was all the Mother's day cards that they had, those 2 little sections and on top of that, right out in the aisle instead of in the card aisles so not only are you fighting all those people to look, your also fighting the people trying to get down the aisle. Why was this section (Mother's Day cards) out in the aisle on the day before Mother's Day?

Because the Father's Day cards section was emptied so they could get filled. They couldn't wait a day or 2 until Mother's Day was over, they had to start the day before. Freaking idiots.

Tomorrow is Mother's Day and we will be doing our annual tradition of going to my brother's house for a cookout. All the Mothers are getting steaks while the rest of use are eating brats and burgers. My brother does the grilling while the rest of the kids bring or cook other items. I will be providing Cheri's usual contribution to parties of the Cowboy beans. Basically baked beans with sausage and bacon and then flavored. It's Cheri's recipe and while she normally makes them, being as it's her day, I will be making them, with her supervision of course.

I hope everyone has a happy and safe Mother's day tomorrow.

Styling and more

Going to do kind of a random post today.  We’ll start with Monday night.  Right after I posted this, I get a phone call from Cheri that my cousin was stopping by and I needed to meet her in the parking lot.  So I head on out there and who pulls up?  None other than Cheri.
Now Sunday night I had suspected that she might come home on Monday.  I would have put it at about 80% chance that she was going to show up.  But then talking to her via text all day, she must have gradually convinced me that she wasn’t coming home because when I saw her pull up, it was the last thing I suspected.  So while I knew she was coming home, she still completely fooled me.  Chris was doing great and she decided he didn’t really need her there anymore.
Even though Cheri was home, I kept my half day on Tuesday, mainly to spend some more time to Cheri but I wouldn’t be lying if I said I didn’t just want to get the hell out of work early too.  I took the kids to the park after I picked them up from school but we didn’t stay too long because it started to rain.  They went with theEx later in the evening so Cheri and I took the chance to go out for supper since Monday was our anniversary.  I enjoyed the food and the company, she just enjoyed the company.  Probably the older couple at the table.
Then last night after the kids came home and went to bed, I posted this about my brother.  Then I woke up this morning to a comment on my blog from, none other than my brother.  I didn’t even know he read my blog.  First thing I did was try to remember if I had said anything bad about him previously, but I think I’m safe.  If you went back and read that post, you see that I made fun of him for having his callback number on his text messages.  I received a text from him today, and the callback number was removed.  So I can now title this blog as educational since I taught him it was annoying.  Actually, he just knows better to not listen to his big brother.

We had parent teacher conferences today.  We stopped by the book fair first and bought some books and then I made the kids sit outside the classroom while we were in the conference.  That’s what the picture above is.  Both kids are doing well and all is good there.  But while waiting for the conference before me, I saw this.  I yikes01broke out my Misty’s Laws ninja like photo taking skills and took this shot of a mother inside another classroom talking to the teacher.  Let’s start with the hair, how does anyone think completely blond hair with completely dark hair underneath looks good.  Secondly, why is everyone so obsessed with wearing boots with everything all of the sudden.  I see the dumbest looking boots with anything, including shorts.  Even my 10 year old came home from theEx’s with shorts and a pair of boots on.  I asked her if she went in public like that she said she had.  I told her she won’t with me, I’d leave her ass home.  I was never in style compared to everyone else but seeing the styles of clothes and accessories that people wear now, is completely ridiculous.  Mismatched socks, sandals with everything, horrible dye jobs, boots, and don’t even get me started on skinny jeans.  I don’t think it’s all that attractive on girls but don’t even get me started on guys wearing them.  I say guys because a real man wouldn’t be caught dead in them.  Amish styled beards and skinny jeans.  Dressing like your homeless.  Bringing back the 80’s style’s which includes the big ass glasses.  I don’t get it.  Maybe I’m the crotchety old man hollering “GET OFF MY LAWN” already.  Maybe nobody just has any sense of style anymore.  If my kids dress like that, you’ll be damn sure that I’ll be making fun of them.  And I definitely won’t go into public with them if their underwear is hanging out.

Sorry, got a little off topic.  Came home from the conference then had to walk over to Walmart to pick up an ingredient that we forgot to get earlier for supper.  The things I do for my wife, I walk all the way over to Walmart to pick up one thing, under the moonlight at that.  I could have been attacked and left in the gutter for dead but I risked it.
moon
Ok, so it wasn’t dark yet, but the moon was out, I didn’t lie.  Oh, and Walmart is next door too.  I spend as much time walking across the parking lot as I do walking to the parking lot.  I just put my headphones on and walk over.  It’s not a big deal, I just make it out to be so Cheri think’s I’m special.  I have to trick her into thinking that I’m a good guy so she sticks around.

I love this song, and it’s probably my 2nd favorite song on the previously mentioned CD that Cheri made me.  2nd favorite behind “our” song that I’m still waiting for to come up on my random play.  If you haven’t heard it, check it out.
I picked a video that had the lyrics on it as well so you could see those.

TBell and Wally Hell

Does anyone else get annoyed when you go through the drive-thru at Taco Bell and they ask how you are doing?  Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind the question so much but the fact that I’m supposed to order after they say it.  The conversations should be like this.

Taco Bell “Hello, how are you today?”

Me “Just fine, thanks”

Taco Bell “Great, may I take your order?”

Me “One of everything, please”

If that was the way the ordering went, I would be cool with it.  But, sometimes I always get the lazy teller.

Taco Bell “Hello, how are you today?”

Me “Just fine, thanks”

Taco Bell “……………..”

That’s right, I wait until they ask to take my order.  For all I know, they aren’t ready.

Taco Bell “…………….”

I’m just sitting here, staring at the speaker, and waiting.  I don’t know what they want for me to do next, they haven’t told me.

Taco Bell “Go ahead and proceed with your order”

Me “I’ll take one of everything, please”

My wife is used to it now, but I think it annoyed her that I made them ask.  I guess in a way, it does make me sound like I think I’m better than them but the way I see it is I’m giving them a courtesy.  I feel like if I just start telling them my order without them asking, that it makes me sound like I’m above them.  Here’s my order, I don’t care if your ready kind of attitude.   I think I’m doing the right thing, I guess it doesn’t matter.

And while I’m bitching about Taco Bell, our local one that I frequent, is located in front of what used to be an outlet mall type of building.  A church bought the building and redid the parking lot along with an auto parts store on the corner.

Google Maps(1)

As you can tell, when you enter and follow the directions (yellow arrows) you have to go all the way around the median and then hang a sharp left and cut through the parking lot to get to the Taco Bell.  That is the only entrance to the TBell.  If you come down the backside of it, you still have to drive all the way around it to get to the parking lot or drive-thru.  So what are the green arrows?  That’s how I go in.  I always look first but if nobody is coming out, I go in the exit.  Such an easier drive.  I suppose one of these days I’ll probably do it in front of a cop and get a ticket for something.

And speaking of horrible parking lots.  Check out the local Walmart.

Google Maps

The yellow arrows are the way to get in.  Where the yellow arrows start is where the stop light is at.  So that’s the entrance most people use.  Very poor planning.  Don’t even get me started on that.
