Fitbit Weekly

Last week was a good week as far as my Fitbit is concerned. I basically had a busy work week which got me over 10,000 steps 3 days. Let's take a look.

If you don't remember last week, let me just say, the steps alone are 28,000 more and the floors climbed is over double this week from last week. You can see the green arrows on everything to see that everything has improved. You can also tell that I worked a lot more days since my average sleep duration is almost an hour less.

As you can see, the week didn't start off to well. Sunday was my lazy day, I didn't even hit 1,000 steps but then Monday happened. It was a record setter all around. It was a day of firsts.

It was the first time I hit green on every category. I had only 1 day of over 10,000 steps until this week where I added 3 more. Granted, on Thursday, I was a couple of hundred steps shy so just before bed, I paced from the bedroom to the living room until I hit it.

I have a feeling a lot of these will change from last week.

Daily Records
  • Steps - 12,774 steps (6.28 miles) (February 15th, 2016)
  • Floors Climbed - 14 floors (February 19th, 2016)
  • Sleep - 8 hrs, 18 min (February 14th, 2016)
Weekly Records
  • Steps - 57,505 steps (28.26 miles) (February 14th, 2016 - February 20th, 2016)
  • Floors Climbed - 50 floors (February 14th, 2016 - February 20th, 2016)
  • Sleep - 51 hrs, 9 min (February 7th, 2016 - February 13th, 2016)
Weekly Averages
  • Steps - 8,451 steps (4.15 miles) (February 14th, 2016 - February 20th, 2016)

House projects

We buckled down this weekend and got some stuff done around the house. I mentioned in my last post (about Fitbit) that I had worked on the house last Saturday and what we did then, and it took all day was to get the wood up for the board and batten in the living room. It was a lot more to it then I thought, my plan was to just glue and then nail the vertical boards to the wall. My stepdad, however, had another idea where we attached them to the horizontal pieces and then nailed the horizontal to the wall. It took a lot more work but I'm sure it looks way better than what I would have done.

We woke yesterday and sanded some spots on the wood, and then went and caulked the board and batten since the vertical pieces weren't attached to the walls, Cheri wanted it to at least look it was so we caulked all around the pieces. I had to make another hardware store visit just to pick up more caulk, we had no idea how much it would take. We originally bought 2 tubes and ended up using double that. After the caulk dried we painted again. Cheri painted the wood while I followed her and painted the wall between it. We were afraid that if we just painted the wood, then the wall wouldn't quite look the same since they were painted at different times plus you could see where she painted around the wood. It took a few hours to paint and we were both dead once we finally finished but it looks great.

While we were waiting for the caulking to dry so we could paint, we finally got around to hanging up the clock Cheri had purchased as well as another vintage type shelf. I'm not sure what other decorations she has planned for the living room so I don't know how close it is to being completed. I know she wants to hang the TV but she wants the cords to run behind the wall so that's a little more than just hanging it and there is also a mirror and hooks for coats that she wants to hang by the door. The mirror is off the dresser we bought a few weeks ago and then we are attaching coat hooks to the bottom of it so it looks like one piece. The mirror is really heavy which is why we haven't hung it yet, it's a little more than just pinning it to the wall. Cheri wants to do a couple of touch ups with the paint on the white and we need to touch up the gold where we caulked on it at the top of the rail.

Here's before and after.

Before

After
Ignore the picture sitting on the railing at the left of the picture, I like to put stuff on the railing just to annoy Cheri. I keep telling her I'm going to put my baseball cards on it. You can see we changed the colors plus see the board and batten. You can also see the new clock up there, or down here

It says Laws & Co., Est. 2010

This is the other corner, she hung up the vintage shelf looking thing up there. Cheri has a few books on it (from the 1800's) but she's not sure what else to put up there.

Today our new dishwasher was delivered. I had planned on disconnecting the old one and connecting the new one. That didn't work out to well. I got the old one disconnected pretty easily but once I got the new one in and started hooking up, I noticed one small problem. The old one plugged right into the wall where as the new one is supposed to be hard wired. I'm not messing with electric so needless to say, it didn't get finished and I have to wait for my stepdad to get home from his anniversary trip to help me out. I had shut off the water to the kitchen in order to work on it but since I didn't get it hooked up, I had to figure out a way to get our water back on. I went ahead and hooked up one hose to the dishwasher figuring that would hold and the other hose I'm not sure where it goes. I almost wonder if I need a bigger hose to hook up to the new dishwasher so I took a drill bit and stuck it in upside down into the smaller tube just to plug it. I placed the end of that hose in the sink just in case it manages to spit out the bit. I went downstairs and turned the water back on and no leaks so yeah for me.

I really wanted to get the dishwasher hooked up because I am widely known in my family for not being handy so I was really hoping to be able to do it myself just to say I did. Of course, that didn't work out so now that I had to call for help, I failed, again.

Fitbit weekly for last week

I would have posted this earlier in the week but I was having issues with blogger and uploading photos. It finally got fixed today so here you go.

I bet you're all happy that I decided not to post an every day journal of my Fitbit progress. To be honest, I just had one of those days where I did't have time or just did't get in the mood to post and it totally takes me out of the habit of sitting down to do so. I did get a weekly report from them in my email so I thought I could do a weekly post. Granted, I got it a few days ago and I'm just now posting so some things haven't changed.

I know, it's not very impressive at all but I only worked for 2 days and then was on leave for bereavement Wednesday thru Friday. Wednesday was the Celebration of Life party and afterwards we took the kids shopping at Target for clothes and shoes. Then we also went out for supper that night because my cousin was in town for the party and we always go out to Hacienda when he's in town. Thursday wasn't a huge step day, I was out and about and not at home but I really wasn't doing anything. I basically hung out with the family all day, just chilling. Friday I didn't do squat and Saturday I worked on the house so I got more steps than usual for the weekend but still not a bunch. As far as my friend ranking, I was 9th out of 10 friends, kind of pathetic if you ask me. Take a look at my daily steps

As I said above, the 2 work days were the most productive and it was all downhill from there. The other thing I keep track of, not sure why, maybe just because it's interesting, is sleep.

That is actually really good, but that is also again, because I only worked for 2 days. I get really good sleep if I'm not working because I tend to sleep in, sometimes as late as 10 or 11 in the morning. Put it this way, I actually have my sleep goal set at 6 hours and I hit that for 5 of the 7 days last week. So next week, you'll see more steps (more work days) and less sleep duration (more work days.) Side note, I do count naps in the afternoon so sometimes my sleep will look better because of it.

I will also keep records to date of this week's post. All the following records will be from this week since it's the first week doing this. Since we are so far into next week already, I can already tell you that most, if not all of these will change.

Daily Records
  • Steps - 10,015 (4.92 miles) (February 9th, 2016)

Snoozing, on a Thursday afternoon

I got another phone call from the school on my way to work, for the 2nd day in a row there was another 2 hour delay. Yesterday it was because of fog, now I leave at 5:30 in the morning and the fog wasn't that bad. I can understand delaying school if you can't see 5 feet in front of you but like I said, it wasn't that bad. This morning it was because it rained most of the day yesterday and it got chilly last night and froze over. The neighborhood was completely iced over and slick but once I got out on the main roads they were fine. I'm guessing that both delays were due to the fact that a lot of the school district is rural roads.

I stayed busy at work but that was mainly because the 3rd shift girl didn't really do the job she's supposed to do and decided to do other things. Which was fine because it was the kind of orders that required me to be on the forklift more then pulling parts again. Between taking care of those customers orders and loading the usual morning trucks on Thursday (our busiest morning in regards to trucks), I didn't really finish her stuff until almost 11:30. Then I had to gather a few customer pickups that took most of my afternoon. What sucked was most of that was outside and it wasn't really nice out.

Came home and haven't done a damn thing but nap and watch TV. The Ex has asked to take the kids out for supper tomorrow. That will be only be the 2nd time since Christmas that they have seen her. Or rather, Samantha has seen her twice, this will be the first time Trevor hangs out with her. That is mainly due to the fact that her husband is in the hospital again and the kids still refuse to be around him.

Another very active night, I'm wondering if I need to change the setting on my Fitbit. I had it set for a heavy sleep because I generally am, but on that setting, it's more sensitive. I do remember waking up once because I was on my back again but I rolled over and went back to sleep so why it says 8 times is beyond me. I'm going to change the setting for tonight and see what transpires.

I told you I snoozed this afternoon. I started off in the recliner and then some of Trevor's friends came to the door so I got woken up. I notice Cheri had disappeared to the bedroom so I crawled into bed and we had an afternoon nap until her alarm went off for her to start getting supper together.

I'm pretty much on pace with yesterday, I guess my average workday is going to be around 6000 to 7000 steps, once in awhile I'll get higher but I get the feeling it'll stick around there. I really need to get out walking after work, on the couple of days it's been decent enough to I just didn't feel like it and now it's just to freaking cold. You can also verify what I told you earlier, I didn't do crap when I got home.

Another no-show at work

I'm going to try to do this day of instead of day after, it just seems more normal. You'll miss out on a few steps in the evening but it's usually just getting ready for bed, potty breaks or going to the kitchen for snacks.

I got up and actually remembered to set the trash out at the curb. I know eventually I will forget to set it out in the morning considering I don't do a whole lot of thinking in the mornings. That's why I have a routine, so I don't forget anything. Occasionally, I take a frozen breakfast sandwich to work for my first break, and Cheri has to put a note on my lunchbox to grab it otherwise I will forget. My leftovers, yogurt and snacks are all in the same spot in the fridge so I automatically go to that and I grab the OJ but if I need to grab something from the freezer, I have to be reminded.

The 3rd shift girl called in (attendance has been horrible in the shipping department since the start of the year, myself included but I'm pretty sure, I'm the only one who was actually sick) so when I got there, I had to get all the local stuff together. The other guy helped so we knocked it out pretty quick but the driver had to wait on us because he comes in early and it's usually already put together. I had a big order for our top customer to get together before noon, I think it ended up being 50 something skids but the nice thing about this customer, is all the stuff they order comes down to shipping already packaged up so when I get loads for them together, it's more forklift driving then walking and pulling parts together so I'm sure my step count will be lower. I didn't get it done until almost noon as it was so I finished it up and headed off to lunch.

I finished the book I was reading at lunch today. It was actually pretty good. Since I tend to only read free E-books that isn't always the case. They are rarely duds but they aren't always great. This one was a little different than my normal books, it was about 2 groups of immortals (good and bad groups) and a girl who just found out she belonged to them. They all have special abilities as well so the story kept moving along. It was nice because I finished the book right at the end of my break. I hate it when I finish it at the beginning because I don't want to start a book for 10 minutes then not read again until my morning break the next day. Tomorrow, I'll get to start fresh with the following book.

I'm such a child though because the title makes me giggle. I think it's kind of a hacker takes over the world kind of thing so nothing technology related works including banks so it's not necessarily apocalyptic like my usual reads but it still sounded good.

I didn't do anything after work today, I was a slacker. I did come home to all the roman shades and curtains put up because they all came in the mail yesterday so Cheri was busy. We also think the washer took a crap on us already. Luckily, it's one they left with the house and we have a washer and dryer at my brothers that he was storing while we were at the apartment so hopefully he'll be able to help me move it in the next few days.

I worked on my cards this afternoon and am finishing my evening trying to get through my Feedly again, I'm slowly getting behind again all while watching the DVR. A nice relaxing evening.

Starting tomorrow, I'll do the sleep section first as it will be the start of the day on day of posts as opposed to the end of the day when I post the next day. Did you follow all that?

As you can see, I didn't get the steps that I did yesterday which is what I figured would happen. Although the 2 floors it says I did today was BS. I know I went up to the group leaders office 4 or 5 times, let alone I was climbing on shelves again so it didn't do a good job with that. I feel like it gypped me out of at least 5 floors. I hope it just had a bad day and it's not usually that far off.

I'm heading off to bed soon, probably when this show is over. 5:15 comes awfully early, especially when you sleep like crap.

Are you going to do this every day?

I know, you're back for a 3rd day of a "Fitbit" post. It's such an exciting life I lead. I got nothing else to post other than a kind of a diary so there you go. It feels odd talking about yesterday instead of today but that's the only way I can get my total stats in, I don't want to miss my steps to the bathroom before bed, do I? I've debated on changing it but that's what is stopping me from doing so.

Not to much happened yesterday, work was alright, I kept busy enough. We had a meeting where the boss complained about us not working fast enough, you know, the usual.

It was another chilly day but considering normal temps are usually mid 30's and it was mid 40's today, I can't complain. It started to rain in the afternoon which made it feel a little more chilly but again, I'll take the 40's in February.

I came home and chilled for awhile. I was just getting ready to run out and grab supper when Samantha and her friend came up and said that her friends sister wanted to take them to a movie so they went outside to wait to get picked up. Apparently she got lost so they waited awhile. It was supposed to start at 7 and they didn't leave here till after 7 so they missed the beginning. They went and saw Star Wars, Samantha doesn't have any reason to want to see it, she hasn't seen the others and doesn't know anything about the franchise. After the movie, I kept waiting for them to come home, it was already after 10 on a school night so I kept checking her GPS tracker to make sure she was coming but they were just sitting there for 20 minutes. So I text her and told her to get her ass home. She said they stopped for some supper. I replied with it's after 10:30 on a school night, you have no time to grab supper, hit a drive-thru and get your ass home. I waited until the GPS showed her moving towards home then I finally went to bed before she got here. Cheri stayed up to shew them to bed when they got home.

A record high in steps, still haven't hit the 10,000 step "goal." I told Cheri that I was closing in on walking 4 miles for the day and she was genuinely shocked, said she didn't realize I walked that much at work. She apparently believes I sit on my forklift and never get off I guess. Sometimes I wish she could see me work all day, maybe she wouldn't think of me as being so lazy if she saw all I do there.

You can also see that I went up 8 floors but I want to show you the chart.

You see where it says I went up 3 floors around 2 pm? Remember when I said it doesn't measure your steps up but the height off the ground you are? Well, someone from the quality department wanted to look at 4 parts, but they were in a box on the 3rd shelf but the floor was covered in skids with parts so my options were get on the forklift and drag about 20 skids out just so I could grab the skid on the 3rd shelf, or climb it. I decided to climb it. I climbed up the shelves and then shimmied over to grab the parts. So basically, I climbed about 25-30 feet in the air so it registered 3 floors up. At least my floors was higher yesterday.

As you can see, I went to bed earlier. It would have been even earlier had I not gotten annoyed with the kids not coming directly home after the movie. Even though I was in bed for almost 6 1/2 hours, this says I only slept soundly for a little over 4 1/2 hours. I apparently don't sleep as well as I thought I did. Cheri says she told me to roll over off my back once because I tend to stop breathing when I'm on my back, but she said that I replied but never did roll over so maybe that was my issue last night. Who knows? All I know is I don't sleep as nearly as soundly as I thought I did. I thought I slept like a log and barely moved at night. I only really remember waking up once and I had thought that was closer to when my alarm went off at 5:15 but not according to the chart.

Fitbit Day #2, aka Monday

I had a typical Monday other than I had only worked a day and a half in the last week so I was expecting to get sore. It ended up being a better than average Monday but that was mainly because this was the first day in over a week that I felt good, no cramping, no running for the toilet. I was still popping Immodium so I don't know if it's that or maybe I'm cured, finally.

I stayed pretty busy at work, which always makes the day go faster but I don't remember anything special happening. I don't generally go into things that happen at work anyways but I may time to time.

I came home and just after the girls (Samantha has a friend living with us) got home, Samantha left to walk to meet her friend who was coming over and lives in the neighborhood next to ours. It was the first time she had hung out with her since we moved. I figured that she would spend more time with her since we moved so close but I think having another friend living with us has cut into her time with other friends. That was a concern of ours when we allowed her to move in, she claims it's because we haven't brought her bike over from my mom's yet so we'll see. She did have one other friend spend the night so I guess I shouldn't be to worried and both of the girls are in the same friend circle that I know of so it definitely shouldn't be a problem that she lives here.

Trevor actually had a friend come over and take him for a ride on his 4 wheeler. We were honestly shocked that he went since he's afraid of everything but when he came back, he said he had fun. It would be nice if they continue to stop by and ask if he wants to go with them.

Those previous 2 paragraphs were a big reason why we wanted a house. So the kids would have a neighborhood to play in. I'm hoping once spring rolls around and it's warmer out that they will spend more time outside. I might have to force Trevor to, possibly both just to get them away from their video games and laptops.

As you can tell above, my step count goes way up when I work. Technically, I'm a forklift driver but I still walk around a bit filling orders to ship out. My normal work day is from 6 to 2:30, as you can tell above, that's where the majority of my steps come from. That gap from work to after 4 it didn't register any steps because I put it on the charger while I was showering and chilled in the recliner for a bit. That next burst of steps is when I drove Samantha's friend home. The next burst is when I went over to my mom's to help my stepdad carry a couch upstairs, then I stood around and talked for a little bit.

After I got home, I chilled in the recliner while we were catching up on the DVR. Do you see that gap between 8 and 10 pm? I was in my recliner and on my laptop but apparently I didn't move much because the Fitbit actually had me recorded as sleeping, but not a very restful sleep so it must have recorded a little movement. I have since learned how to delete those times it says I'm sleeping and I'm not.

You can also see where I walked up 5 floors. The Fitbit tracks when you go up, it has an altimeter so if you go up for more the 10 feet, it counts it as a floor. I do go up some stairs at work, the shipping office is upstairs. I usually try to hold out and turn all my paperwork at once so I don't go up the stairs constantly. I suppose I should quit trying to avoid them, Lord knows I can use the exercise.

Yeah, I stayed up way to late again. I don't really have a reason, I just wasn't really all that tired. I'm paying for it today, it's probably going to record me sleeping in the recliner again. You can see how restless I was all night, especially after my wife came to bed around 3:15. I do remember waking up a bunch but I didn't stay awake long so I knew my restless count was going to be high so that wasn't a surprise. Maybe I'll go to bed at a decent hour tonight, maybe.

I did get my first badge yesterday. Although I'm pretty sure it's nothing special, it's more because I'm new and haven't set any other records yet.

Fitbit day #1

As I mentioned yesterday, I bought a Fitbit and am now tracking myself, not that I wasn't before with my phone but this is supposed to be more accurate. If you read yesterday's post then you know it came in the morning and I had to charge it so I didn't put it on until around 11 am when my brother picked me up.

Guess you can't really see the graph all that well, I think if you click it that it will get bigger. You can see I took 2508 steps which is apparently equivalent to 1.23 miles. That's a lot for me on the weekend. When I tracked my steps on my phone, there were a lot of weekend days where I wouldn't even break a couple of hundred but if you read my post yesterday, you know that I didn't just sit at home all day which is what I usually do.

My sleep efficiency is 81%, woo hoo! Actually, I have no idea if that's good or bad, I guess it sounds good.

  • The time to fall asleep is wrong, it didn't take me long but I didn't fall asleep immediately.
  • The went to bed time is correct, I tend to stay up to late on Sunday nights since I stay up a little later on the weekends.
  • The awake times is correct, I didn't wake up at all.
  • The 6x restless sleep is technically wrong because that first pink mark, I was still awake which would be why the time to fall asleep was wrong as well. On the website, you can put your cursor on the pink spots on the timeline and it tells you exactly from what time to what time you were restless.
  • I was in bed for 5 hrs and 13 mins is correct, I guess and you subtract the restless sleep from that to get your actual sleep time.
  • 4 hrs and 4 mins, which I guess explains why when I come home and plop in the recliner, I tend to fall asleep for a quick nap.
Don't worry, I won't go through every line on every day, I just wanted to go through all the features. I was pretty impressed that it keeps this data so well. There's a few other things it does, which you'll see tomorrow when I go over today.

So far, I'm happy with this purchase. If you know me, you know I love my stats. Don't think I haven't noticed that my first full day wearing the Fitbit is also the first day of the month. Coincidence? I think not.
